Cait's Valentin Imperial Maya/Sascha Gluck/Blue Lens Caribe Review!

Recommended Posts

Cait, thanks so much! I've been looking forward to your review!

Everything looked amazing!!

Did you bring down the table decorations or were those that were provided?

I'm sure I'll be staking you with many more questions as they come up, hope you don't mind! :)

Yes, we brought everything. We had two full suitcases of just wedding stuff, with all the glass bubblewrapped. It was definitely a process, but worth it. I didn't like the Valentin's options for centerpieces, not to mention that they were very expensive. It was a bonus that the Valentin's dinner plates happen to match my colors :)

No worries about the questions-I'm more than happy to help if I can!

I'd only do a few things differently-I probably wouldn't have paid for the upgraded room. It was as beautiful as last year, but really not totally worth the extra money-all the rooms at the Valentin are beautiful.

Also, if you're doing a legal ceremony, the judge they use is really nice, but didn't speak loud enough or hold the mic close enough. If I had known this, I would have asked her before the wedding to speak up so all the guests could hear.

I probably wouldn't have ordered the two layer cake. We only made a dent in the first layer, and really didn't need the second layer for only 22 people.

I wouldn't change anything else-the locations of all the events, the menus, etc. Everything turned out wonderful!

Best of luck!

Cait, Which room did you all upgrade to? Looks like you did the "once in a lifetime" package? I think that is what we are going to go with. I was originally thinking the moonlight with add ons but by the time you add everything on, it's about the same cost and the once in a lifetime but without the perks of that one.

Go with the Once in a Lifetime!  The extras are SO worth it!  The mariachi, massages and body wraps, definitely worth the extra money!  We upgraded ourselves to the Emerald Suite, which was an extra $90 per night.  We had the same room last year when we got engaged, and thought it would be kind of anti-climactic to get one of the lesser expensive rooms.  All the rooms are gorgeous, though.  My in-laws had a swim up suite, and it was beautiful.  Next time, we'd just go with a regular room.

Thanks for the great review Cait! We're happy to know that you're happy with your photos! Both of you were fun to work with, very eager and willing to make the most of our Trash the Dress session!

Congratulations again on your marriage! Wishing you many years of love and excitement! :)

Our wedding package came with Blue Lens Caribe as photographers for our ceremony. Since we had already booked Sascha, we asked Ariadna if we could do a Trash the Dress a few days later with Blue Lens. (I loved my dress too much to trash it, so I wore a different one!) It worked out great, and we met with Mirko and Laura on Wednesday at 5:30. They were on time and ready to go. We had SO much fun doing this photo shoot. They were so energetic and fun to work with. We weren’t really sure how the pictures would come out, but when Dennis (the manager of Blue Lens, I think) showed them to us on Friday, we were stunned. The pictures were absolutely amazing, and we ended up purchasing the whole package-about 300 photos, 30 edited photos, and a DVD slideshow. They did a fantastic job editing and added some great effects. I would definitely recommend Blue Lens, we’re so happy with the pictures! Here are a few of our favorites:

Blue Lens also did the DVD of our ceremony (included in package). This is something that we probably wouldn't have thought to purchase if it wasn't included, and we're SO happy it was. It came out so nice. I've already watched it several times and love it. They edited it nicely with music from the ceremony, did little interviews with our parents and siblings...it was just beautiful. The day went by so fast and with such high emotions, it was difficult to take it all in. We're so happy we have a record of it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just wanted to thank you for the awesome review Cait.  We are also getting married at the VIM in January, 2011.  I just read your entire review to my fiance and we are even more excited with our choice.  We picked the Unforgetable package but were really debating between that one and the Once in a Lifetime.  We are seriously consdering upgrading to the more expensive one after reading your review.  What are the extras in the emerald rooms?  We are currently booked in a Golden Suite.  Was there an extra charge for the decorations you had at the ceremony on the beach?

Oh and your photos are beautiful and congratulations on your marriage.  I'm so glad that everything turned out perfect for you guys.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
