I know!!! That's what I keep saying...it's not $1500 just for a wedding...you get to spend a WEEK in sunny Mexico during the coldest month of the year!! Sheesh...quit complaining. I'll be thinking of you shoveling 10 feet of snow in -40 C while I'm on the beach!

I'm so over guests moaning about this now! At first I was just as annoyed as you, but now I just let it go over my head!!

I'm starting to realise that some people just think DW's are not real weddings and they think they can get away with saying things like this or letting you down at the last minute!

Its amazing how many brides on here are experiencing this. People are rude. They want it to be about them. I make it a point to tell people that there is NO PRESSURe for them to be there. In other words...save your excuses and gripes for someone who cares! No hurt feelings over here! The only people that we insist are there are our parents. Everyone else...oh well!

We are very lucky, we haven't received any "money woes" complaints. It's probably because we knew who we wanted to invite. We told my family first we were getting married in DR, then his family and our friends. The first response is "Can we go". We told them that we would love to have them join us, but if they can't afford it, we understand. I told everyone I didn't want to hear about the expense. If they can afford it Great!, if not...I don't want to hear it! Plain and simple. I haven't heard one person complain. I gave them enough notice. I've even heard that some have budgeted for the wedding so that they could save money every month in order to be able to attend. We have amazing family and friends.

It is so nice to be surrounded by you girls!

As I said in my earlier post, it is really unbelievable that people feel it is acceptable to act like this. In my case, I am from NY and my fiance is from South Florida so it would have been a DW for SOMEONE's side of the family! AND not only that- every wedding we have been to for our friends has been in their hometowns where nobody lives anymore so it has cost us just as much for flight and airfare as it would for this- and we going cold places in the dead of winter just for these weddings. So seriously- why do people even open thier mouths??

I have the same situation only the ones who are complaining about the cost are the same guests who go on vacation to somewhere in the Carribean EVERY YEAR. Oo we all of a sudden don't have the money to come to your wedding but we will be going somewhere else later in the year and we just came back from somewhere. HONESTLY

I know how you're feeling. I'm getting the same thing...I'm also getting the "why can't you just get married in the states like everyone else?" This is ususally by the people who have never traveled or hate to travel. UGH...People are relentless, I always reply: "it's not your wedding" or "because that's what WE wanted to do, and we want to do it our way."

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
