I know people aren't made of money

Recommended Posts

I hear you ladies!!  I have been dealing with the same such as my FI friends who have invited us to their events and we spend god knows how much money on their crap and they don't even consider going to our DW because not the best time and I"'m like really you have know for a year and half.  Than there are the other set of people who get the invites because our parents wanted us to send it to them and their response is so what are you paying the flight and room or do we pay for one of them?  I'm like are f**king kidding me if we paid for everyone it would be close to $60,000 i'm sorry but i don't like you that much.  We have so far 34 guest confirmed and that is good enough for me.  If I wanted a big cookie cutter wedding I would have just had a wedding at home.  I just look at it like this if all 150 guests actually showed up to our dw I think I would have freaked I mean think about it do you want to be surrounded for several days with people that you know on vaca?  I don't.  I want an intimate wedding with my close friends and family and that is what we are having and for me that is PERFECT.

Amen to that, Jenn! The way I see it, if someone really wants to, they will make it happen. If they financially cannot do it, then there's always an AHR. Besides, you don't want your random great-uncle Charlie there...a DW thins out the massive family members that appear out of the woodwork.

FINALLY i find girls that UNDERSTAND ME!! I posted a similar comment on Yahoo/answers and recieved such negativity from people that i deleted the comment!. Its MY wedding and i have the say on what I WANT for MY wedding.. We understand this is a burden with the economy and all but lets face it most people take a vacation once a yr!!!! What's the excuse.. and half the people that are "complaining" are the one's who are always traveling "Are you serious".Anyways I myself have cried a lot over the lack of interest by some people due to this but now  I JUST DONT CARE anymore... Sorry..... Its  my wedding and its going to happen wether they go or not! ...

If I can say one thing its that you will all feel better once you stop focusing on the negativity from people and focus on you and your groom. Seriously it took me a while to get there but ultimately this day is really about you and him and once you're there you won't even notice the people that aren't there. Good luck ladies! Stay positive!

Ha... I know I posted on this thread previously, but I'll give you another one....

How about a guest telling you: " why did you book only a regular room".  "can't you guys afford to get a superior suite"...and "why only a semi-private dinner, you guys don't want to pay for private?"...

how about you book your ticket first, and then tell me what to do!

WTF!!!!!!!!!! you should tell them you are having a private reception, but they aren't invited. lol :)

btw, we have guests booking better rooms than we are... they don't have to pay for anything but the room.  makes it a little easier to upgrade!  people have no common sense.

I guess we are all in the same boat. My fiance and I got engaged 2 yers ago and told everyone right away that we'd want to do a DW. Now the wedding isnt untill March 2012 so really if anyone tells me they cannot afford it.....seriously you had 3 yrs to save 1600.00 If they really wanted to they could. My FI is italian and although his immediate fam is small and are all fine with a DW the extended fam had their own comments. Either the date clashes with a work trip or they feel that Mexico isnt safe or theres a bug going around.....cmon!!!! really?? I dont understand why ppl cant just be happy for us and if you cannot come then just be polite and say "id love to be there but i cannot, so sorry, i know your wedding will be beautiful cannot wait to see the pics. Done! But that would be too simple ppl feel the need to throw in their 2 cents and make comments and give their opinions. God give me patience to not yell out "shut up! if u dont wanna come then I don't want you there!" lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
