Hotel Comparisons

I am having a lot of trouble deciding which hotel we with our guests should stay at since I have not seen them in person. Our wedding is at Las Caletas so we will not be getting married at the hotel. We want to be close in town and Dreams is more than we want our guests to pay. A lot of our people have said they do not want an all inclusive. Fiance and I want a Dreams like resort for our honeymoon out of town, but in town for the wedding. I have looked throughout the forum and all over the internet but it's hard to tell. I trust you guys more than some of the reviews on trip advisor! :) If any one stayed at one of these please let me know!!

Marina area: Marriot vs Westin:

What are the beaches like here? Rocky? Do they have the timeshare people bugging you?

How far are you really from downtown?

Rooms: look beautiful and modern on their websites but other pictures seem outdated.

Hotel Zone:

Fiesta Americana:

Is it nice?

What's the beach like in front of it? rocky? timeshare people? etc.

location and proximity to downtown?

rooms/hotel nice? looks okay from online pictures

if all inclusive how is the food?

they do not allow outside food or drink?

Buenaventura:

how is the pool and general hotel rooms/niceness etc?

if all inclusive, how is the food?

how is the beach in front?

I hear it's close to the malecon, is this true?

If you have anything else that might help with our decision, I would appreciate it sooooo much!! Time is ticking and I am so indecisive :)! I did try on wedding dresses yesterday though and that was fun!!!

We stayed and had our wedding at the Westin. The rooms are nice and the pool is great! There are no timeshare people which is really nice.

We also walked down the Marriot (it was the only place to watch the Laker game :) and that hotel is very nice also. I think the rooms at the Marriott look newer, but both hotel's seem pretty comparable. Both hotels are a 20 minute bus ride or 10-15 minute taxi ride from town. Not too far at all.

Loved the Westin..staff was great, rooms were updated, great view from all rooms. Gabriel is the sales manager there and he was wonderful to work with. If you need his contact info just let me know. We are going with the Westin for sure. I also have tons of hotel pictures if you want to see them send me your email address and I'll email them to you. Let me know if you want any other info

Hi lesley & all LC brides, I am looking towards booking at Dreams Puerto Vallarta but am wondering is the marina near Dreams the one that the catamaran picks up my guests or will it be closer to the marina where the Westin is? I am confused. I truly want to me & my guests to stay at Dreams but I don't want a far cab ride to a marina. How far away is Dreams from the marina we will be picked up and taken to LC?

I was having the same issues as you so I went to check them out. I also have pictures if you want me to sent them. I decided on the Westin. The rooms are very modern and updated. The price was great. The group rate was not great but most people booked thru orbitz with flight and hotel packages and they just added those reservations to my room block. The cab ride is about $5 to downtown and the beaches are nice. NO one bugs you on the beach at the hotel..not even vendors. They have some on the beach but are on contract to the westin and are not allowed to approach you. I have a great contact over there and can send you his info if you want.

I also went to two all inclusive places..Melia and the one that is on the vallarta-adventures website. If you have anyone with kids coming the MELIA is great and the cost is pretty low. I had a friend stay there last week and she said the place was great. Best thing is it is walking distance from the Westin.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
