Hello,

I am also getting married at the Decameron in July 2011. Does anyone have any information on the legal paperwork that needs to be done? I am from Toronto and am having a hell of a time getting the WC to answer my questions. I was told that I can eitehr fill out a Marriage Application OR get a bunch of other info. Also does anyone know if the wedding application needs to be authenticated in Canada before we leave? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there!  Anyone planning to have a wedding in Panama Royal Decameron?   We are planning to have a wedding in Feb 2012 and need to get information on start planning.  I tried to go on the website and have emailed them but still no response.  Anyone can guide me to the right direction?

Thanks

Hi,

My husband and I got married at the Decameron on May 21st and first off I will say you are going to have an amazing time!! We could not have asked for a better wedding and Julia the wedding planner is fabulous (although her english is not that great...).

In regards to your question about the documents, we found out the hard way that if you get all the documents that the Panamanian consulate says you need, which then need to be translated into Spanish, and notarized, ends up costing A LOT of money! We probably spent close to $1000 getting all the paperwork and our fingers are crossed that we receive our marriage certificate (it takes 30 days after the wedding to get it and then they have to mail it out to us). The other option that we didn't know about until it was too late is to fill out the Panamanian Marriage Application (the document is in Spanish but you can use Google translate to fill it out). The judge will authenticate the document and take it in to Panama City for you and it only costs $100 and is apparently just as legal as having all the documents that we had to get. So definitely go that route!!

I brought some of my own decorations (I bought tie-backs online and brought paper lanterns to hang) and Julia did a great job decorating the ceremony and reception area. We had our reception at Cafe Med which is a sweet restaurant right on the beach and our ceremony was on the beach in front of the restaurant. We had a total of 79 guests at our wedding and it was amazing!!

Just be prepared though, July is in the middle of the rainy season and it can be quite cloudy. Still very warm, but it rains for short periods throughout the day on most days, and there is less direct sunlight.

Enjoy your trip/wedding... good luck!!

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have as I know how stressful it can be preparing.

Hi everyone!!

Jenna, I am glad to hear your wedding went so well!

We currently have 72 people -did you make arrangements for off-resort tours with your group? Are there any you recommend/ don't recommend?

We are just planning our decor for our January 27th wedding! Do you have photos of your event?

I am currently torn on chairs and table clothes (i.e. paying extra for fancy ones or just using the standard ones provided)

my bouquet - did you upgrade the bouquet or use one of the standard? I am thinking of the "tropical flower" but want to confirm it includes nice flowers, not just the mums I have seen in many photos!

Do you have general suggestions for a new RD fiance?

Thank you, Allison

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
