wow - what a great response to this thread!

we are paying for everything ourselves (including my parents and his grandfather's transportation and accomodations). it is a blessing and a curse b/c you can make all your own decisions without hearing too much unsolicited advice but you have to pay for it! HA wink.gif

Wow you are pretty lucky that no one is giving you advice. We are paying for ours and we are getting way too much "feed back'. way to go

when we first told them (our parents), they tried to chim in and we just let it be known that we weren't hearing it - this is what we are doing, we hope everyone can and wants to make it, we will give people enough notice and time to save and if not, no hard feelings and we're ok with it and understand!

Wow, like I said; my parents are paying - but my mom is totally letting me take over the planning. I have to ask for more imput from her (she's also my MOH).

I forgot to mention, Aaron and I also paying for Aaron's mom to come since his parents are separated and she can't afford it (she didn't ask for this, we insisted).

We are paying for everything. My parents have offered to give us some money but I don't want to assume anything. They can't really afford to give us much so I would rather they spend that on themselves getting to Maui! My mom is also insisting on an AHR but again I would rather them help my sister and her b/f getting to Maui as well as them instead of just giving money to us. I doubt FI's parents will contribute. All they do is bitch about it being so expensive in Maui and how they aren't sure they can come.

Sometimes my wedding is still imaginary when I think I can have something I can't afford. Then brutal reality slaps me back down to Earth. (Reality is also known as my father.)

Oh goodness this is quite the subject! smile105.gif

I may be the only one who is paying for it all by myself! I have committed about 10-15k of my own money and my mom is giving a little also (maybe 3-4k). FI's parents said they would give some too (maybe 2k)....but I haven't asked anyone for the $$$ so I'm just leaving that out and not counting on it until it's in my bank account! Whatever they give me will just alleviate some of my expenses....I'm not going to spend it in addition to my current budget.

I told my FI that I would pay everything since he spent about that amount or more on my ring.....I figure why should he spend even more of his money when I'm the one wearing the fatty rock on my finger every day! This way we are basically equal and will not be acquiring any debt which is fabulous. elefant.gif

Fortunately I have a very generous uncle who is paying for my wedding. My uncle raised me from 13 on and has been there for me since then. He has no children of his own and I am like a daughter to him and because my parents are unable to help and I just finished getting my masters he offered to pay which I am very thinkful for. I am even more thankful after reading how many of you are paying for the wedding yourselves. He's the one that suggested I get married in Cabo. He took me there for spring break while I was in high school and I have loved Cabo since then.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
