Who is Paying for Your Wedding?

Recommended Posts

James and I are paying for our wedding. We let our parents know that we would be paying, we didn't want them to feel obligated to pay. My mom paid for my wedding dress and some other odds and ends and i'm sure that both of our parents will give us a generous amount of money as a wedding gift.

My parents are giving us $6000 towards the wedding and paying for the photographer who is coming for the whole week. I am hoping to keep the cost in that area, but it does not look like will happen. We are having an AHR and his parents said they would pay for that, mainly because they really want us to have one.

We we're all set to pay for it ourselves but my father insisted. He said he's planned on paying for my wedding since 1979 when I was born, so I let him have his way...lol. We paid for some of the wedding stuff and our flight/accomodations in Mexico. My hubby paid for the honeymoon.

We're planning to pay for everything ourselves, however his mom has said she'd help somehow (she has offered to pay for his suit), my parents have offered several times to help, but they've helped enough by letting me live at home rent free :) My bro has also offered some money (his I really don't mind taking since all of my SIL's family will be attending 9 adults- 3 kids, haha!)

none have given us an actual figure, but we are not depending on this $$.

We gave ourselves almost 2 years to save before the wedding. So far we've paid about $6000 so far on deposits for our location, band, photog; i orded about 200 starfish, 150 shot glasses with our logo..

and we've saved and additional $8000 so far. Phew... my god, this is the first I've totaled these up!

And like Christine, we are having a large wedding - anywhere between 150-200 ppl..

My father is the same way. He said there is no way he could not pay for his first born daughters wedding. We are paying for FH attire, gm shirts, bm shoes & jewlery, OOT bags, our honeymoon and airefare. FI's parents are paying for AHR, he is the only child so they insisted as well.

We're paying for everything ourselves. Both of our dads are deceased and we won't accept money from our moms. We're actually paying for our moms to go to Jamaica. That being said, I'm mainly using the money I got from my dad's estate to pay for everything, so I guess my dad is paying in his own way:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
