Holy $%!#!!!!!- having a major freak out

Recommended Posts

So I'm at work, minding my own business and my blackberry pings and I have an e-mail from the wedding channel stating my 9 month checklist. So I ignore it for a second thinking they must have the date wrong or something and it must be a mistake but I do a double take at my computer screen and what do ya know? NINE MONTHS FROM TODAY I AM GETTING MARRIED.

I have every emotion running through my body right now.

OH. MY. GOD.

All we have done is that we booked a resort!

I am not touching a dress until I lose weight- how the hell am I going to get one on time?!?

NEED to send STD's

Need to finalize my bridal party- btw- how early did u ask your FRIENDS? I've asked my fam but have been advised not to ask friends too early...

GIRLS I AM HAVING A FREAK OUT! PLEASE HELP!!!

First...breathe! This is your wedding and you should try not to stress about anyone else's "checklist". You have booked the resort..so that's a great start! Does the resort offer a wedding package or referrals? I would try to create your own checklist with things that are most important to you! Then day by day, you will see the list getting smaller and smaller!

Best of luck!

It is all going to be ok! I promise! I planned my whole wedding, start to finish.. in less than 6 months! It is all going to get done!

Dont worry about your dress.. start look, I would even start trying some on.. see what kind of style you like.. you can always have it altered when you lose weight..

Ask you friends now. The more notice they have.. the better.. and then they can start helping you with some of the things on your list and you wont feel so overwhelmed

Start by making a list of things you want to get done.. even if you think they are small.. you will feel really good when you start checking things off

I love you all! We've already worked out most of the wedding details with the resort and such. We are all set on that. It is the small things I'm worrying about.

I guess I'll ask my friends. I'm having a lot of bridesmaids (8 + 1 junior) and I've asked 4 plus the one junior bridesmaid already but they were all family so I've been hesitant.

I just feel so panicked!!!! We are having a large wedding for destination standards, inviting 220+ people and expecting realistically about 75-105 to show up. So with all those people I need to get these STD's out ASAP!! Ughhhhhh!!!!

You'll be just fine! I planned my whole wedding in 6 months, including booking the resort and travel. I found that the wedding planning sites that use checklists are geared more toward traditional weddings, and a lot of the timelines don't make sense for a DW.

It's good to have a general idea of "must be done by" dates for the major things like ordering your dress, and STDs, but a lot of the little things don't need to be taken care of until later on.

Congrats, by the way -- 9 months until your big day!

I know how you feel. Sounds like me two days ago! I am getting married April 14th. We are not having many people at all, so I am not stressing about the invitations. But I am stressing about the dress and planning the AHR. I thought I had so much time, then all of a sudden, time is going so quickly. Take a deep breath and just start going through your check list one thing at a time. It you look at everything at once, it is so overwhelming. Good luck.

Definitely tackle one thing at a time as pp have suggested. Looking at the big picture will just stress you out too much!

I'd start with save the dates because you want to let your guests know asap the resort, location and date.

As far as dress shopping, my friend and cousin both bought sample dresses that they were able to take home the very same day. There are also rush fees if you decide to order a dress. There are options for you so don't stress out too much :)

LOL same here, I think I was engaged just barely 9 months when I got married?

Oh, and I didn't start dress shopping until 3-4 months before. The dress had to be ordered and altered and I ended up getting it literally a few days before I left for Mexico.

So there, feel better? I know it seems like a huge deal but everything will work out and it will be a distant memory so fast that you will wonder why you worried about it. Have fun wink.gif

Thank you all! I don't think I would be stressing this much if there weren't this many people. I'm doing much better now.. waiting to get my STD materials so that I can put together my luggage tags- that will all be in this week and then my fiance is getting a nice Arts & Crafts lesson so he can help me.

It is just SO overwhelming!

Anyone have a checklist for thier DW that they are willing to share? I work such long hours I have no time to make one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
