2011 PV wedding!! Dreams or Grand Velas??

Recommended Posts

Hello my fellow Bride-to-be's, and Bride's!! pinkie.gif

I am looking to get married in Puerto Vallarta in 2011 and deciding between Dreams and Grand Velas resorts. I have seen great reviews on both, just wandering if anyone has has any advice, or things to be aware of for either of them as far as things that aren't in black and white, hidden fees to think about, etc based on past experience.

Thanks so much!!

welcome! i might use the search link on the top right to look for reviews that have already been written. you can also look through the dreams pv thread - a lot of us have our reviews posted in our signatures. i'm not sure if there is a grand velas thread, but you can search for that too!

good luck!

I'm caught between the two myself. Velas (in Nuevo) is my dream property because of the amphitheater, but way too expensive to stay in. Dreams seems more likely from the info I'm getting. The only problem with each is that if you only have the wedding on the property, and don't stay as a guest, the rental fee is $3000. Hardly seems worth it with all the other stuff you have to pay for.

A member by the name of Krizstylin (sp?) is getting married at Grand Velas in October 2010, so I would contact her for more info on her experience with GV. Also, talk to travel agent Wendy who may be able to hook you up with deals and general info. Take care!

Well, having been to both and having my wedding at Dreams, Grand Velas is a million times nicer. The problem is having your guests pay for Grand Velas. Their prices are very very expensive for rooms. We wanted people to be able to afford our wedding which is why we chose Dreams. If you want more people to come, I'd say Dreams and then honeymoon at Grand Velas.

Good luck

Im getting Married at Grand Velas in October! you all are correct its super expensive but IMO worth every penny! The group is smaller but that is totally fine with us! We framed it as a group vacation and gave people tons of time to save and get ready! While it is expensive i must say you get what you pay for and when we went down last year they treated us like royalty! Im so excited I have like 2 months and I will be a married lady!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
