Annoyed with Everyone

Recommended Posts

I haven't been on here in a while and it's mainly because I've been feeling a little stressed.

I am completely done with my wedding planning, just going to get a few more things for OOT bags but that's it!

I have had my dress since April, booked flights and stay, decorations, EVERYTHING!

And it's so annoying that everyone I sent the invite to tells me they're going ( I only invited a few since I really only want about 20 guests) and NO ONE has booked! NO ONE!

My wedding is three months away and I keep giving everyone info on the prices, I check them everyday! And everyone just says oh I have to book it and that's it.

At first I didn't care that people weren't booking and I kept saying that as long as FI and I are there I really don't care. But now that I've spent so much time and effort planning this for a group it's bothering me that it seems like only our parents will be going.

Ladies please help me calm downnn.. you all always know what to say.......

Oh Luciel, I can only imagine your frustration right now. It's the last thing that a bride needs. Did you get a group rate for the trip or is everyone expected to book on their own? I think maybe everyone is waiting for a last minute price as they tend to be cheaper. Either way you have done your part and now it's in the hands of everyone else. The most important ones will be there for you and your FI and that's all that matters. Sorry you are going through this. This is my biggest fear!

I know with our wedding a deposit is going to be due 6 months prior to the wedding with the remaining amount due 2 months the big day.

Everything will turn out for you!!!! Don't stress about the small stuff. Either way it's your day and if your FI shows up that's all that really matters :)

Hang in there!!! Your guests are probably just waiting to the last minute to get the cheapest prices. Procrastination...LOL It'll be fine. Don't worry. You've done your part. You might want to tell them that you are just waiting for them to book so you can see who will be there to finalize your plans (eventhough you're already done). It might give them a push to book their trip. Some people need a little push. But don't sweat the small stuff. Everything will turn out. You will have an amazing wedding!!!

Welcome to the dark side of DW planning - finding out who among your friends and relatives are flakes!

Seriously some of them will book last minute and it stinks but it is what it is. And as most of us will tell you, some of them won't book and won't go, even though they have RSVP'd with a "yes".

There is nothing you can do about it other than remind them, which it sounds like you have done. Find some way to make peace with the fact that they may not be there so you aren't disappointed in the end. (and honestly in the end when you are in the moment looking at your fiance-soon-to-be-husband you won't think twice about these people!)

You must be so frustrated!

I never knew how lucky I was regarding people booking - but generally over in the UK prices for far destinations do not tend to be reduced that much, infact currently prices at the moment are more expensive than what they were when we booked nearly a year in advance!

It sounds like a different story in the US though, so try not to panic! I'm sure they'll all surprise you and book at the last minute - keep on at them though and I like Natie1971 suggestion and tell them you need them to book soon so you can finalise! They don't need to know the truth!!

Good Luck

Aw I can't imagine your frustration. :o( And so close to your wedding date too!! I still have about 8 months 'til mine, we have 8 people booked, not including us and our kids, but TONS of people have said they are coming but we're still waiting. That's frustrating enough.

Hang in there.

Luciel, I was wondering where you had disappeared to. Sorry to hear you are going through this frustrating part. I think the ladies are right, you have done all you can and some people will be procrastinators. But Natie is also right, perhaps you can give them a little shove by letting everyone know that the venue needs your final count so that you can pay any balances for food and beverage and you would like to make sure that everyone is accounted for. When was your RSVP deadline? Give them the benefit of the doubt that they are procrastinating...I had a friend call me to tell me how beautiful my invitations were and that he can't wait to go...when I mentioned he hadn't RSVPed he said "Seriously? Do we really have to? You know we are going?" I said yes cause the RSVP list from the website goes to the hotel...its not for me, its for them to prepare enough food. (Its a little bit of a fib) But it got him and his gf off their butts and they RSVPed. Some people will think that since they told you they are going, then you will RSVP them....its crazy how people's minds think. Don't stress it girl! It'll turn out fine....don't let the procrastinators get you stressed you are too good for that.

Hi Lucile -

Don't stress. All that matters is that you and your fiance are there and it's a plus that your parents are there to support you guys. If no one else shows, well that is their loss. You have done your part in trying to accomodate them and providing them with travel prices. It's up to them to book their trip.

If it were me, I would send out an email or something telling them that you need to have a final head count of those that will be attending. With your wedding being pretty close, I wouldn't take a "Yes, we're going" to be sufficient anymore. I would ask that they give you their flight information so you know when to expect everyone OR you could tell them that you need them to have their travel accomodations booked by September 1st or something so you can give your coordinator a final head count.

Like the other ladies said, I'm sure everyone is just waiting till the last minute to book. Regardless of what happens with your guests, you are going to have a fabulous wedding!

Wow good advice Jamy. Maybe I'm feisty today, but I was seriously thinking "just fuck em all...." LOL. You were much more eloquent.

But in all seriousness, once you committed to a DW being your dream wedding, you can't look back. It will drive you CRAZY! You did your part- you reminded people, you assisted with prices, now just let them show if they are truly going. Don't buy into the lip service until they actually do book. I really wouldn't worry about it because it's so late in the game for you at this point.

I know it's hard, but just try to relax and focus on how you will be in paradise on the biggest day of your life. It will be beautiful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
