I'm a newbie from Hamilton, ON.  My fiance and I are getting married at the Barcelo Maya Palace on July 23rd 2013.  As of right now we have 52 guests attending - 50 adults and 2 toddlers.  I haven't stayed at the Barcelo before, but I did I site visit when I was in the Mayan Riviera in Nov 2012 and it is a beautiful resort.  So far the planning hasn't been too stressful.  Starting to work on OOT bags....

Happy planning everyone!

I just moved to Durham Region a few weeks ago from London Ont. Love living there with my "new" fiancé. Planning on getting married in Jamaica (looking at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in December 2014), however we ultimately would prefer The Bahamas. Both of our mothers have passed and his mom loved vacationing in the Bahamas. My moms birthday is December 15, and I thought it would be perfect to get married in his moms favourite vacation spot, on my moms birthday. Only problem is, not finding any all inclusive resorts that we love in the Bahamas (any recommendations would be greatly appreciated), and the ones we love are adults only. Since my father has also passed, my than 12 year old nephew will be giving me away. Our destination wedding will include our closest family and friends (number to be determined as we haven't ironed out any details yet), and than we plan on coming home and having a semi formal garden reception in the back yard of my family home (which myself and my siblings own). I am so excited to start planning. I am so excited to be a part of this amazing group of brides to learn, get advise, and support from all of you, and do the same in turn. Let the wedding planning begin.....................

Hi!

I'm kind of a newbie, just found this thread but I signed up a month ago :)

We got engaged just after christmas (on a trip to Banff that he planned for my birthday) and are getting married at Playacar Palace 1.14.2014 with about 30 guests!

Planning had been so stressful (FI's mom wasn't keen on a destination wedding and was working hard to convince us to stay home, but has since changed her mind) until I found this website and all the awesome people who have shared so much helpful information! So thank you everyone!

Welcome and congrats!

Yes, where there are weddings, there is drama. Where there are destination weddings, the drama is even larger. Sorry you had to go through that stress (I did too, except it was coming from my family) and so glad she has since changed her mind.

There are SO many resources here! It is the single best wedding planning source I found.

Happy planning - hopefully the stressful part is done now!

My fiance and I just got back from the Dreams Tulum last week. We were there as bridesmaid and groomsman in our good friends' wedding. It is a gorgeous resort and you will love it. They took such good care of everyone and the wedding was so relaxing and fun!

Thanks Peach! Sorry you had to go through that with your own family, that would suck... I try to just laugh and wonder what the next "crisis" will be with her :) Good luck with your planning as well! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
