Congratulations !!

Congrats on the engagement. I couldn't agree with you more about being overwhelmed on choosing a resort. Are you having a kids at the wedding? Lets keep in touch!

I feel ya on the OOT bag stuff!  We have two suitcases just for the bags!  When are you going to hand yours out?

oooooh! I didn't even realise yours was so close too or that you are having an off resort wedding! How is that coming? Did you book it all yourself or through someone?

Our wedding will be at Firefly and we have a planner who is taking care of things. I am a plan ahead kind of person, so there are some details which I think should be set already which aren't, but sometimes you just have to put you trust in people right!?

What do you have left to do? That is crazy that you have 2 suitcases full. I am hoping we will just be able to fit the stuff in our suitecases and carry ons! Fingers crossed!!!

dazedawl- I asked our wedding planner about this as I was concerned as well and she said they will not likely check your bags. She pretty much said they are very laid back and the chances are low. So we are taking our chances and have our survival kits assesmbled. They are in clear bags though so you can pretty well see everything anyways.

SoonCb- good to know! Although I'm still kinda worried as I do know that a lot of the checks on people that are done are done because security just doesn't like the look of you. And well a lot my friends and family look like the type of people that would be upto no good (lots of full sleeve tattoos, piercings, gauged ears and what not). But they are all really good people

Where did you end up buying the bag and topper for the survival kits? I can't find them in Calgary...

We bought an package which the Avery brand makes. It already has these pretty thick bags which stick close and the label type topers which stick together and are a little thicker than regular labels. We are very happy with the results!

These look awesome!  Where did you purchase the Avery packages?  I haven't seen them at Staples or Walmart or anywhere I've looked actually.  Did you design the label yourself and if so what program did you use?  Thanks for the help!  They are great!

I just bought them at Walmart they were like 8 or 9$ for a package that makes 24. I made the template using ideas and some templates for the forum. The ones we got were similar to this http://www.avery.ca/avery/en_ca/Products/Labels/Branding-%26-Merchandising/Peg-Bags-with-Printable-Toppers-Laser-InkJet_22801.htm?N=4294963244&Ns=Rank|0||Product Number|1&refchannel=fda05e579be20310VgnVCM100000a1210c0aRCRD

If you are looking at Walmart the package I bought had an example of using the package to make loot bags for a kid's birthday party. The one above is $20, but it seems to make more than the package we got. I hope that helps! Maybe check different Walmarts? I know sometimes they carry different things.

LOL@ friends looking like they're up to no good. That's funny!

So I went to JA at xmas with two suitcases full of decor/wedding stuff and left it there with fam. One of my friends told me to dress like a diva and make them think that I'm the type of girl who travels with 4 outfits per day, LOL. I went in my track pants and opted for the comfy look. Going thru customs they asked me what was in all my luggage...I said my clothes. Then they asked if I was bringing gifts as it was xmas. I just smiled at her and said "no...shameful right?" and kinda laughed it off. At that moment I wasn't in the mood to talk about a May wedding so I kept it simple and they didn't ask anything else of me and I walked through. But in May when I go, I will prob just say that I'm getting married and brought some decor items that I will be taking back home with me after the wedding. I've heard that isn't ever an issue. I think the issue is only if they think you are going to sell your items to make a profit.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
