Hello Canadian Newbies and welcome to the forums!  tkuzma if you haven't already created a wedding website this is a great place to start and a great tool to keep your guests updated on your progress.  There are a lot of threads on them to help you get ideas.  I leave April 15th for a site inspection trip on the weddings at Karisma Resorts, keep an eye on the wiki for an article I will be posting.  You might find it helpful for your wedding at El Dorado Maroma.

Congrats and happy planning!!!

Have fun on your trip! Will definitely be looking out for your article upon your return :)

This is posted under the Get Together thread but since it would be most beneficial to Newbies I thought I would post it here as well.

Any Alberta brides interested in a Get Together?  I am planning an informational night for any brides interested in coming out, meeting other brides in your area, sharing ideas, a glass of wine and your wedding plans.  Depending on the amount of people interested we could have some Resort Representatives join us and do a presentation on weddings at different resorts.  If you would like to join us please let me know what city and area you are in and I will keep you posted.

Happy Planning!!!

Philanab- Thanks for the great tip! Our colors are orange and purple, but I will definately have to check these out. I never thought about getting themed stamps, but I think it's a great idea. I get a little obsessed on the little details sometimes.

How is everyone's planning going? We have booked a group rate at Riu Ocho Rios for our hotel, but that is it.

Tkuzma- Have you made any progress on starting your planning?

I was so excited to find these because the flowers look tropical and are pretty fuchsia and orange colours, which are my wedding colors. I'm going to stock up because my STDs are going out soon. These can be purchased online or at the post office

Sometimes I feel like I've made good progress, and other times I'm beyond stressed that there's so much to do so I've not yet

done enough.

I've got my ceremony and reception locations booked with deposits down.  Website made and STDs out. Photographer booked. I know what I want for centerpieces, but it's a work in progress.  That's about it...

A huge stressor for me right now is actually my guests.  On my STDs, I wrote the link to our website on which clearly states that if you want to go with the negotiated group rate, you must put down a $350 deposit by May 12 (actually it's June 6, but I know how people leave things last minute!); unfortunately, it's the majority of my friends who seem to have completely glossed over the fact that there's a website, which I keep stressing contains time-sensitive information.  Argh! Oh well, I guess I can't stress myself over whether everyone else can get themselves organized or not...BangHead.gif

tkuzma- I am totally with you. I have asked our guests to RSVP on our website, but only 2 have so far and it is my FFIL and his ex-wife (separately, which is kind of funny. Long story about why they are both invited). I am hoping to send out the invitations in July for our February Wedding and hopefully people will be more on the ball about booking. Our travel agent/wedding planner is not local, so I think this may be keeping people from contacting her to book (I hope not). She (the wedding planner) is also away in Jamaica right now and has not replied to my emails, so perhaps she is unavailble if people are calling her.

Sounds like you have a lot booked already! Good job! I also feel like you and want to get things rolling asap.

Argh, why do people like to leave things to the very last minute?

I have an exam to write today, but after that I want to kick up wedding planning up a notch.  By the by, I'll be in Manitoba this weekend, so I'll wave to you when I'm in Winnipeg :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
