Hi Ladies,

I finally heard back about the documents required for legal marriage in jamaica and what to do about birth certificates that don't have the father's name... It looks like you need to send a copy of the bride and grooms birth certificate notarized in addition the a notarized letter stating the father's name. Here's the response from the coordinator.

We are from Ontario Canada and our birth certificates do not have the fathers name. Can you please let me know what is required in this case?

Attach a letter  on each birth certificate stating the names of the fathers and have that letter notarized .

Hope this helps!

To notarize a letter isn't actually that much, but you do have to do your internet research. I need notarized letters each time I leave the country with my 2 sons. He charges me $5/each, but I draft the letters before hand, so all that he has to do is sign and stamp. I used to have a neighbour that was a lawyer, that was helpful, and free!

I must say we both thought it was pretty neat to see our mother's writing back when we were born.

Alright Ladies....so to update all of us on the whole long form/short form issue that we are all having right now lol, I just got off the phone with the resorts W/C manager at the GPLH (natelie green) and I asked her what we needed to send her still. She stated that IF we want our fathers to be on the wedding certificate at that point we would have to get the letter with both fathers on it(notarized) to her 6 weeks before the wedding, as so they can do all the paperwork on their end.

However, if you are not wanting your fathers on your wedding certificate, all you need to fax to them is a copy  both birth certificates(notarized) as well as your photo ID (passport OR license) of the bride and groom (this doent need to be notarized) and then you need to have the paperwork for the resort itself....which has all our deposit info wedding date info ETC which we have ALL done as ALL our dates are set lol

I hope this helps, as I know I was happy to find out it was one less thing to do

Ladies,

I got home last night and found my invites waiting for me. Can I tell you how much I love, love, love them!!! When I get home tonight, I will post pics, but if there are any other brides-to-be not wanting to make their own, please check out Kendra www.gottheinvite.com She was fantastic, the easiest person I've dealt with so far, with this wedding planning business. Because of the strike, she had them expedited via purolator. Although, now that I have them, I'm not sure what to do with them because Canada Post is STILL on STRIKKKKEEEEE!!! Boo!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
