Ceremony Music?

Hello Fellow Island Brides...

I was wondering for those of you marrying in T&C (at Beaches or any other resort) what options were you presented with for music for you ceremony? Are you using Ipod or a band? I have selected alot of classical music for my processional and the entrance of the bridal party. I know that my package comes with the option of a soloist, I'm hoping I can get a violinist. What are you ladies doing about the music you are walking down the aisle to?

Hi Janine,

(I am off island on holiday right now, so not checking in as often). I can't speak for Beaches but the majority of weddings we see use Jervone Laporte (and sometimes his brother) here on island who both play sax and a kind of electrical flute thingy (you can tell my musical knowledge is not huge). I normally see Jervon at a lot of our weddings. He doesn't have a website that I know of but his contact is Jervon Laporte "The Sounds of Sax" 649-231-0001 . He does some great music that sets the mood and is really talented. (I have just found a quick video done by someone at beaches that gives a bit of sound of Jervon Beaches Turks and Caicos - Sounds of Sax with Jevon LaPorte Video - snehaH )

I don't know of any violinists on island (it would be cool if we did have one). Other than that, Ipods are mainly used. If you want live music, I would highly recommend Jervon or his brother (I am completely blanking on his name at the moment). Both of them do regular gigs at Beaches as well.

There are a couple of vocal artists that might work on island for a wedding ceremony, but personally, I like instrumental for wedding ceremonies. If you want more vocal performers, let me know and I can try to get a list for you!

Krys, you are the bomb!!! I wrote Monique requesting this info a few days ago but have yet to hear anything back from her. I was originally thinking saxophonist but then thought all the songs I chose would sound better in violin but I am sure a saxophonist can do them as well. I will try contacting him and trying to see if I can tell him whats on the list (only 4 songs really) and see if he is familiar with them. THANK SO MUCH KRYS!!!!

Enjoy your holiday!!!! By the way....have you ever thought of being a WC? You would really make a fantastic one.

Hey Janine - I haven't really asked Monique about the music options because I'm pretty sure we are just going to use our iPod. So the only musical info I have seen is just what is offered in the Beaches wedding package. My wedding date is my late grandfather's b-day, so I am walking down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow, as it was a song he would sing to be when I was little :)

What song(s) have you been thinking of walking down the aisle to?

Hi Heather, I'm using Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D Major for the processional of the bridal party but I will be walking to another song (its a bit of a secret for now). I have everything on my ipod but would have much rather preferred to have it performed live. I've already resigned to the fact that I may have to use the iPod since the song I have chosen for myself to walk down the aisle to is quite tricky to perform. I love somwhere over the rainbow it always makes me teary eyed. I sure hope you will have tears of joy packets ready cause I know I would be crying.

Hey Janine!

I had Janardo Laporte (Jervon's brother I am assuming that Krys mentioned) - the Saxophonist play during my ceremony and cocktails and he was AMAZING. It is the most beautiful music you will hear as you walk down the aisle! It brought my Dad to tears, I walked to Canon in D and trust me it is beautiful on the sax.

Hope your planning is going well! :)

Thanks Bronze!!! Unfortunately Of the 6 songs I chose for the ceremony they both only know how to play one....Canon in D, but that isn't the song I will be walking down the aisle to so I am gonna have iPod music for my ceremony. Janardo will be playing at my cocktail reception though and I can't wait for that!!! Thanks for letting me know you liked him...I feel better and better when I hear positive reviews.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
