Nephew in the NICU - requesting your positive energy (or prayers)!

So this is totally not wedding related but I know all the positive energy can't hurt.

My brother's wife was admitted to the hospital 6 1/2 months into her first pregnancy. The doctor decided to take the baby yesterday at about 29 weeks. He was about a pound underweight at the time for his development. He's doing amazing considering the circumstances-he was breathing on his own immediately and so far has not had to have any invasive procedures. Mom is doing well although they're having some trouble managing her pain and she hasn't been able to see the baby yet.

The hospital they're at has a very advanced NICU unit and the baby is in very good hands.

I'm including a link but be aware some of the pictures are kind of intense.

And happy birthday to Baby Carter!

Sending all of the positive thoughts I have your way (to your nephew, I suppose)! My daughter was born at 32 weeks and in the NICU for about 5 weeks - and she just turned 2 and is doing great. I saw a lot of "miracles" while in the NICU and I am hoping your little man does just as well!

Vikki, my prayers are with you. This is so close to my heart since 5 years ago I went through the same thing. Unfortunately the hospital I was at was not advanced in terms of neonatal care but I thank God for the minutes I was able to have a daughter. I pray that Baby Carter will pull through this. May the positive energy of every whisper of his name and every thought of him be projected around and encircle him like a shield and may he grow stronger and stronger with each passing hour.

Oh, Vikki.....my heart and prayers go out to you and your family during this very trying time -- I cannot imagine what you all (especially his parents) must be going through.

It is encouraging though that you said little Carter is so doing well given the circumstances, and that he is in a wonderful facility, but it doesn't make photos like #13 (where his tiny hand is holding onto daddy's finger) any less heartbreaking.

Stay strong, and know that all of our positive thoughts and very best wishes will be coming your way a million times over....

I just wanted to say to Janine -- I am so sorry to hear of your unspeakable loss. You are an incredibly strong woman to have pulled through such a tragedy as losing a child. My wish is that nothing but the very best of love, life and happiness lie ahead on the horizon for you...

Just a quick update:

Thank you all for your silent support of Carter. He's doing well today and we have every reason to believe that he will continue to thrive. He is just such a precious little miracle. Last night he nurses put his little footprints on a card-for such a little guy he has big toes!

Janine, I am so sorry for the loss you experienced. I don't really know what else to say, I just can't imagine what that must have been like. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts for Carter and his family.

Thank you IslandBride, it was a process but I pulled through and I'd like to think at times I am stronger. Thank you for your wishes. Vikki: I am so glad Carter is on the up and up, please keep us posted and thank you for your kind words as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
