March 2011 PC brides, let's chat!

Planning is going pretty good - not much to do right now really.  Gotta love a destination wedding! - my coordinator at the resort is great.

trying to get the home town reception details down right now.

34 people have booked and I am impressed with that number.  I know a few people will wait until later in the year.  I suspect we will have 50 (11 being children).  We have two boys so are wedding/resort is very kid friendly!!

SOnyaR, you got a great deal!  Mine is the 21st person free and $100 less than on line prices.

I did an electronic STD and a website - I think it was a good idea as all the info is at peoples fingertips - I think it may have helped with getting people excited and getting them to book!

I wasn't going to do formal invites although I am now tossing the idea around of sending something by mail to the people that booked - maybe in January.  And to our grandmothers (who can't come).   I am leaning toward doing an evite for the hometown reception - the feedback is that people really don't care if it's email or not and everyone has email (except grandmas).  We'll see

Hey there Sonya! By invites, I meant the "formal" ones.  Yes people already know and have paid all of their money, but we still want to have a formal invitation to send out to people.  Only the people who are attending will receive one though.  It is more of a tradition thing rather than an invitation to come.  Does that make more sense?

OK, I get it now. We sent out to everyone evenif we knew they were not going to go as we didn't want peopleto feel left out and also thought of it as sort of an announcement about the wedding.

I like your idea though and probably should have done that.

I had a total freak out today because I found out that the plane is full for our departure date except for the remaining seats I had put a deposit down for. It took alot of juggling and contacting people but we've worked most things out. Some people will have to fly out of Toronto instead of Ottawa if they still want to come.

I can't believe it sold out already. I should have reserved more than 20 seats but then how was I to know. Lesson learned so any future brides try and put a deposit down on as many seats as you think are coming.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
