We are having a DW 11-11-11 and decided on No AHR sice the holidays are so soon after. It is a busy time for everyone and more added stress and expense for us as well  wacko.gif

We planning on just making the rounds and visiting with friends and family over all the Holiday dinners and parties!

We honestly have put NO thought into this.  I am sure at some point we will do a BBQ, but that would be 6 ish months after as we are marrying in January.

I had decided, possibly, to do a bigger style party before we leave.  At first I wasn't sure about a bridal shower as I read it was in poor taste to invite people who weren't invited to your wedding.  But I have had so many people ask me when it is and when I express my concern they tell me I am completely silly and they would not be offended to come to a bridal shower.  So I was considering having a bridal shower in the day and my stagette that evening for those who want to do both.  Nothing formal, just more of a potluck with games and such, then a fun night out.

Who knows!

We were thinking to do an AHR for a while because we wanted to celebrate with everyone at home as well, but we recently decided to scrap it and go to Disney World before our wedding instead ha!

We had a big engagement party earlier this month for about 50 of our friends. We had it Mexican themed with Mexican food and lots of tequila and margaritas. It was a blast, and we feel like we got to celebrate w/ our friends. We're also doing another engagement party next month but for family, and it'll have a lot of the cultural stuff like a tea ceremony. I'm also having a bridal shower thrown by my bridal party, and we're both having Bach parties. We've decided that that's definitely enough celebrations for us, and we'd rather spend the money on a week in Disney World before our wedding instead! We are huge Disney dorks, so we're pretty excited now at the prospect of a Disney trip and our wedding in the next 5 months :).

@@tygrrlily ok- this is starting to just get creepy! Hahahaha we are giant WDW dorks too! We aren't doing an AHR mainly cause of the cost and the fact that we need to make sure we don't spend our Disney money! We go every year for a week in December as well as a Disney cruise! If we had an AHR we would have moved some of those funds. We have had people ask us if we are going to have one and simply said - nope... Mexico or nothing! Haha

Haha that's pretty funny! My FI and I first went 2 years ago which was our first time as adults, and we fell hard. We've already been 3x in the last 2 years and a lot of our friends think we're nuts but it's our happy place. We've decided we're good to go once per year from now on :P. We would LOVE to do a cruise and keep wanting to get out to California, but haven't gotten enough of our DW fix yet haha

We're trying to figure out accommodation now and I think my FI is more excited for DW than Mexico haha. We usually stay on resort, but we're looking into DVC rental this time but not sure if that'll work out

And yes, we think the extra vacation is definitely worth not having the AHR! I'm going to start using that line too - Mexico or nothing!

I'm a DVC owner! It's awesome. If you have any questions about renting or availability/points I can look for you- I may even be able to help with renting some of my points potentially. We used some of our points to go to Aulani in Hawaii this past may... It was gorgeous.. Nicest resort I've stayed at in my 15+ times to Hawaii. (I have family there)

We just found out there's no availability the week we want and unfortunately we can only go that week bc of my work, so we're now looking at on resort options. Thanks for the offer though - really appreciate it :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
