Budget questions

Met with a TA today, and she showed us a few resorts to consider. The prices seemed quite a bit higher than what we were expecting though. Is it reasonable to expect to find something for around $1300 CDN per person? Everything she's been showing us is well over that mark... wondering if we were just being too optimistic.

We're looking for the third week of February for all-inclusive, kid friendly, and a location where we can have the ceremony and reception on the beach. Maybe thats what drives up the cost?

Unfortunately I think $1300 is a little optimistic... sorry sad.gif

We are orginially from Toronto but are living in Vancouver (all our family is in TO) and we were hoping for $1700 Van & $1500 TO for Mexico in May and found that was kind hard to match we managed to book the Dreams Riviera Cancun at $1700 Van & $1600 TO!

Is changing the month an option? April/May tends to be cheaper... I hope you find something that works with your budget! :)

It depends on where you are going and how long you are staying...but that prices is very low. But it is possible. And you can get wedding packages for free depending on how many guest will be staying at the resort with you or for a certain amount of nights.

I know we were firm about keeping it below $1500 and even changed resorts so that it'd be affordable for our family & friends. We ended up booking for $1400 but Feb is a more expensive time to go, maybe u can look at changing ur date to go during low season?

Although I'm not from Canada, I agree with the other girls. You are looking at a time frame that is more expensive to begin with... I know for at least Mexico, they run higher prices until the middle of April because of spring breaks. So, for $1300 from up north, yea, I won't think that's very optimistic. I guess you will need to figure out if you are open to any resorts or a certain set because if you are open that may help, but I think the time period you are looking for is going to be more expensive in general.

Thanks for the perspective, everyone. Looks like we were just being overly optimistic! We're pretty set on the date, so if that means it will cost us a little more, then it will just cost a little more. Our travel agent suggested Dreams Tulum and it seems like we're getting a great deal on it anyways, so a little over our budget hopefully wont be a big deal to our guests :)

  • 2 weeks later...

We were set on not going in unless it was $1500 or less but our resort came back at $1600...we hoed and hummed but really we figured it like this...if people will pay $1500 to come to your wedding an extra $100 for the most part, shouldn't be a deal breaker. We love our resort and couldn't imagine if we'd given it up for a couple hundred bucks because in the end its your day so go where makes you happy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
