Q about Receptions at Dream Tulum

Recommended Posts

Oh ! and don't forget, there are many weddings at Dreams Tulum and Sandra really works long hours. It often take a few days for her to reply back !

Most people that I e-mailed wrote to me that it's pointless to plan exactly what you want now because once you get there and look around, you might change your plans ! Once you get to the resort, she will meet with you and tell you everything an give you the catalogue of things to choose (flowers, gazebo deco, meal, restaurant, music...).

Also, since I will be getting married there in December, I will write you every little details of my wedding + post some pictures. That should also help you.

For contacting Sandra............

1. She is outrageously overworked and never seems to have enough hours in the day to get everything done. So, sometimes she does need a while to get back to people.

2. When I started emailing her I was not getting any responses. It turned out that because I was using AOL the replies she was sending were not getting through. Maybe try using a generic service like Yahoo or Gmail.

3. Calling her is another option. If she is not available to talk, her assistant Landy usually is.

I can't really help with the reception questions though as it was just Karen and I there with no guests for the wedding.

Thank you SO much for those pictures. We've only just begun any type of planning, but have decided on Dreams as our resort of choice. It looks amazing. What does everyone do for traveling guests.....meaning travel agents, group rates for hotels?

Also, anyone ever heard of delsol photography? Or have any other suggestionshuh.gif

Hi Trisha,

It's really up to you what you want to do for your guests. If you think you might book 10 rooms or more, you may want to get with a travel agent to facilitate things and get a room block. Don't forget to confirm with Sandra your wedding date so that she puts you down in the book. Del Sol photography: It so happens that Matt Adcock and Sol Tamargo are members of this forum and they both do excellent work.

Happy Planning!

I also got married at Dreams with 30 guests. I had my reception in a private room at Portofino and it was great. There was no music although we had discussed it before my wedding day. That's the only thing I was really disappointed about.

I only paid for the silver package, and it is $19 pp after the first 20 pp, I think, but they don't really count that closely. I wasn't billed for as many people as I had. In fact, my total was just under $2K, which is remarkable for such a (in my opinion) beautiful wedding and reception.

I did attend a dinner on the beach, and sand in the food wasn't a problem. The other thing I was afraid of, which was it being too hot in July, wasn't really either, because of the nice breeze. I had a few seniors as guests, though, and I didn't want to chance not having a/c for them. So, if you think your guests will be comfortable, I would def. recommend the beach reception setting (so pretty), but if you have seniors, I might would go with Portofino (private room).

The thing about choosing everything once you get there is really right on. I had all kinds of ideas about flowers and decorations, and Sandra just handed me a book, I picked out my decorations and cake, and it all turned out great.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
