Review of gran bahia principe wedding punta cana

Recommended Posts

Hi guys i want to leave you with a review. I got married there on June 19th it was amazing. Everything went without a hitch. It rained so we xchanged the gazebo for the indoor setting without fail. Here goes:

I used the photographer on the resort because they charge 500$ to use an outside photgrapher. I initially wanted Michael Weiler.

I was afraid it wouldnt work out but it ended up being better! They are very condusive to what you want and your budget.

you can FB them Arrecife Bahia is their FB page. They are extremely friendly and accomodating. Their packages ranged from 699 and up which is good for the quality of photos. We didnt want printed ones so they gave us a dvd slideshow and the cd .

Word of advice...

dont do the unforgettable.. its not worth it.. we downgraded to Blissful Love which is just as good.

The signature cocktail hour is excellent and they add extra liquor in the drink if you want.

They give you dinner reservations with your whole group throughout your stay together if you give them a list in advance of the guests! The spa discounts does not include hair and nails.

We checked in, got a letter from the WC at a time to meet.

She reviewed the contract and pulled out two books.

1. with flowers a HUGE selection of bouquets

2.Cake book huge selection of cakes

3. Extras in the second book too like candles ribbons etc..

The cake was amazing i had vanilla coconut..

When you get there they will reconfirm and tell you of extra things they have if your interested but they dont push. Dont do open bar unless you are adamant about it. there is an hour usually of open time after ceremony guests went to lobby and drank. They include wine, beer and with the cocktail hour you can modify it for a time during dinner or dance portion. We took an ipod worked amazing.

If you pick canapes service, when you get there the WC will be honest and say.. you wont like this so switch it with this.. it doesnt taste good. so dont worry over selections. We ordered personalized shot glasses as favors at discount mugs.com & our fan program we got for 20$ at the knot .com. They decorate everything beautifully for you so dont encumber yourself taking centerpieces etc.

i dont know how to put some photos on here ...but they were amazing

Hi girls,

Here is our review of our PERFECT Gran Bahia wedding in April 2010. First off, i think we were the last couple to be able to use an outside photographer. We had Michael Weiler photograph our wedding and he was absolutely amazing! He made us the most incredible wedding album! When he arrived, he received a call from the main lobby informing him that from now on there would be an additional charge of $500 to bring in outside photographers...

If you would like to check out some of our pictures, visit his website under Weddings - Melissa & Justin

When we arrived at the resort we were greeted by our wedding coordinator, Gleny - she is the most amzing person you will ever meet! We had an express check-in (i felt bad for our 40 guests as they had to do a group check-in) and were handed some yummy tropical drinks. They took us to our room which was fully decorated with balloons, flowers, champagne and deserts. Our room was gorgeous and had an awesome view of the pool which is beautiful all lit up at night.

The next morning we met with our WC again to go over all the details of our wedding. We picked our flowers and decorations. We had emailed a picture of the cake that we wanted and they made it exact to the picture. It was beautiful. We brought our own cake topper. We paid for the Unforgettable package which is the best one they offer, and by far our wedding was the most beautiful one that week. They went above and beyond with our flowers which was one of the most important details to me. I wanted to have TONS of flowers and they definetly did that for us!!! We had a private reception at the terrace overlooking the main pool! it was gorgeous. I brought about 100 candles (tealights and votives) which were placed all over the terrace to light it up. They spread flower petals everywhere and all our flowers from the gazebo were brought down to the reception. We also hired a DJ which was a relief because we did not have to worry about music. He played excellent music for dinner and had a huge variety of songs to choose from. Alot of our guests were requesting songs throughout the night. We also had an open bar from 9pm to 1am because that was the only way were we allowed to keep the reception going so late - it was totally worth it! After 1 pm we took the party to the disco, then to the beach for some swimming to end the night.

All in all, our wedding was everything we could have ever dreamed of...and the staff allowed us to enjoy the week with our family and friends without being stressed and worrying about how everything would turn out.

A couple tips for you is to get a list going of all your guests room numbers because it is VERY hard to find people at this resort - due to the size. The resort booked our group's a la carte meals ahead of time (we were able to change them though) so it would have been handy to have all our guests room numbers to let them know dinner plans. We managed to get everyone together though.

If you have any questions, or would like additional information or details let me know.

Good luck - and there is really nothing to worry about at this resort...wedding are their specialty!!

Melissa

I got married last month in Bahia Principe, when I contact the wedding coordinator to request information about photographers ,and ask if I can bring someone from USA, told me that I had to pay the fee if it was a foreign photographer, either local or international. I was very surprised, I decided to tell her that  he was one of our relatives who would take photos and told me that in that case had to bring a copy of passport or the family book to the wedding meeting  to confirm that the photographer was actually a family, if not in all cases would have to pay the fee, I said what if this person  were a very close friend, told me that the fee will only be exempted if they are family,  Even If  he is a close friend , he has to pay the fee ,because they have an exclusive agreement with Arrecife Studio, so As she did not give me many options I decided to take the service of Arrecife, and I checked some photos of their work on Facebook,  and they look nice . What I can say is that they did a beautiful job  in my wedding , the pictures  are  amazing  even when the day was cloudy  they manage very good , excelent photographers very nice people !!! One  thing  ,dont book very late your wedding  If you want to have some pictures on the beach , At 05:00 pm is getting dark very fast .

Good Luck  !!! Wedding coordinators are very helpful! :)

Hi ladies,

I just got married at the GBP in November. I used their spa for my hair and make up. I was also really nervous about this, not knowing what it would look like lol. i actually was really happy with it. My package came with a free hair trial, which helped. They didn't speak English very well, so bring pics and practice your hand gestures :) But they are really good at what they do

I had my make up done as well. Did my own touch ups after, but I was happy with what they had done. It was $50 for make up and I think it was $70 for my hair.

Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
