I purchased the fans from Oriental trading and wrapped and weaved the same ribbon that I used for my invites around and through the middle. The ribbon is 1.5'' wide so it didn't work well wrapping it around the handle as many of the other DIYers have done. I looked for other "skinnier" ribbons, but nothing was quite right. Plus, this way I'm sorta carrying my theme through. Anyway, I think it looks nice.

The programs I created and printed on "linen" cardstock for a litte texture. I then punched small holes in the 4 corners and fed rafia ribbon through each. I wove the rafia ribbon through to the back of the fan to secure the program in place. I tucked the little bit of extra ends in between the weaves.

TIME CONSUMING!

I probably should have just glued them somehow, but whatever...I seem to like the make things as difficult as possible (I think my FI would agree) :)

They look great! I think the glue application wouldn't have looked as good as the result you got. ...and, I think the ribbon looks nice. It doesn't look too wide in your picture. I also agree in carrying through the ribbon you used in your invites....believe it or not, people will recognize that you carried the invite theme/materials through the wedding ceremony and reception...Great job!

They are very nice Susan!

I really tlike the way you did your ribbon! The corners of the program add such a nice touch.

I may need to stick to a glue gun. I wonder if those sticky circle things would work?

I already took 36 of them with me to Mexico (other 4 are at home for testing) since they were pretty bulky. I have done anything to them yet and I won't have a ton of time either.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
