Krista's Planning Thread!

Recommended Posts

I want to start my thread by saying thank you to all the lovely ladies who make this forum a success and especially to Tammy for starting this all! This is such a great idea and you have helped so many brides!

I have met so many wonderful people on here who I never would have met otherwise. I want to say a special thank you to my Feb brides and my SB ladies who have helped me so much in these last few months – you ladies hold a special place in my heart! Without the support of you all I donâ€t think I would have made it through this whole process without freaking out! We will be getting married July 10, 2010 at Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa in the Mayan Riviera.

My engagement story: My FI came to Korea four months after I moved there to teach English. He proposed on the first night he was there. I was so shocked since he had purposely thrown me off the idea of getting engaged since he wanted it to be a surprise. My reaction was "Are you serious?" and he still teases me about that to this day! LOL! :)

Here are some of the details:

My invitations were DIY (bought the boxes of them at Staples and Michaels) and I printed/decorated them myself:

Our rings: My engagement ring was designed by my FI and made by his dad (who is a jewellery maker), and my wedding band was custom made by his dad to fit my e-ring. FIâ€s ring was purchased and a few changes were made by his dad to suit FIâ€s tastes.

My photographer is coming from “home†with us. She is actually from Louisiana so we have never met. Itâ€s a long story, but our original photographer from Louisiana was recommended by a good friend of ours who we met in South Korea. She got pregnant and her due date is 3 weeks before our wedding, so she found another substitute to go in her place. It actually worked out perfectly because I love the new photographers style and Iâ€m super excited to meet her and work with her! Her site is Kaylynn Marie Photography

For our ceremony, itâ€s a legal one, but we are adding our own vows and we are having a hands reading. The ceremony will be all white (chairs and gazebo) with just dark pink petals on the walkway.

Since we have a small group coming with us (13 people), we are opting for the free wedding package that dreams offers.

We are going to buy Maracas once we are down there for favours, and also to bring back as favours for our AHR, which will be quite large (100 people) who couldnâ€t come to Mexico.

Invitations for AHR:

This is my centerpiece inspiration I will use for our AHR. I will use hot pink roses and use our wedding colour ribbons to decorate the square vases. Then there will be votives around them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
