New Wedding Coordinator ar ROR!

Recommended Posts

Oh, that makes sense... but Tina could have still done a way better job than what I've reading about. She was getting paid AND most of all, these were weddings. One of the most important days in a couple's life and she didn't really try much at all from what I read/heard. That's awful through and through.

I dealt with Antonette who I believe is the full time WC now.  I never met Tina when I was there, makes sense that she has left because I believe she was just on loan from the RIU Negril.

I also think that they reply to brides in order of weddings.  They get swamped with emails and I didn't hear anything from them either in the months leading up to my wedding but as soon as it was super-close, all my emails were replied to promptly.  I don't agree with their way of doing things but they have a teeny tiny office and there are only a few women working there so I kind of get it.  If your wedding is in March, you have TONNES of time.  Don't stress!  I didn't even start planning my July 20th wedding until April.

I am getting married on Nov 10th at ROR

First off we had the 4 oclock time and they told us they double booked so they bumped us to the 12-1 spot which is fine BUT they said that they do not start any receptions until 6:30!  So that means my fiance and our 66 guests will have to stand around for 5 hours? I don't think so!

ROR may be cheap but they really need to get their act together. The wedding coordinators are horrible to work with and give roundabout answers to everything. I am trying to schedule times and places for reception/coctail hour and they just keep sauing we will schedule that when you come down?  REALLY?

I am at my whits end and I really feel helpless. This shouldn't happen

So sorry to hear that your ceremony time was double booked.  Did the sales dept. in Mexico contact you to let you know that they made a mistake??  Did you just find out that they double booked?! I better check with them to make sure my date/time is confirmed...I'm so nervous now!

I totally agree that they should get their act together.  In the end we're still spending quite a bit of money to have our wedding there and we shouldn't have to feel helpless!!  I had everything booked and confirmed with the previous WC and since she's been gone, I've been trying to contact them time after time to ensure my bookings are still there but nobody has gotten back to me.

Sorry to hear about all that.

Even though we save a tonne of money by doing a destination wedding, we still bring a lot of money to the resort.  It was just over $1600/person for our guests to come and we had 79 people.  RIU makes a lot of money off of weddings because that's 79 people who would not have been going to the ROR if it wasn't for our wedding.  They should take that into consideration for everyone.

Email your concerns/complaints to these email addresses:

[email protected] [email protected] [email protected] and [email protected]

You have to be on them like crazy to get a response.  The first address is the most important one to use but do email all of them at the same time...and keep on them!

We were also double booked and had to get married at 2.  We had the champagne reception at the wedding site which took us to 3pm.  Our guests were grateful for the break between ceremony and reception - mostly everyone hit the beach/pool (including myself and our wedding party) and the kids went for a nap.  Everyone was refreshed and ready to go for the reception.

I don't know about other weddings you have gone to but almost every other wedding at home has a huge break between the ceremony and reception while the wedding party/bride and groom have photos done.  The scenario I had at ROR wasn't any different and it was what my guests were used to from weddings at home.

I have told a few brides on here that the hours between ceremony and reception are a gift because it was SO hot and everyone had a chance to freshen up before the dinner/party.

You can also do your planning when you get there!  Don't stress out about that!  I was exactly where you are in June and I was going crazy!!!  Because I had booked everything with Chandlyn and then she got fired, I was super stressed out about what we had actually booked and what never got done (it turned out that nothing had been booked).  Antonette sat down with us the day before the wedding and was so patient and went through everything three times with me to make sure it was exactly what I had planned.  We started from square one the day before the wedding and everything was perfect!

Please don't stress!  I know it's hard to believe after dealing with the WC there but it really will all work out.  I was pulling my hair out leading up to our departure date and it all worked out!  Good luck!

Thank you guys for your help, Jesselyn...I understand about the time in between the wedding and reception and 2 hours would be fine but 5 hours is to long for what we are looking for.

I am currently looking into different venue's to get married at and then come back to the Riu for the reception. if anyone has any suggestions i am all ears..I am looking into Coyoba Gardens, Royal Plantation, and Jamaica Inn....which we wanted to stay at but decided against it in consideration of our guest's. So I am waiting to here back from them but I am not to optomistic as it is such short notice

Hi Ladies,

I'm another bride who's having serious issues with the change of WC.  In March, Chandlynn confirmed the poolside reception for our Wedding, but after she was fired they changed a few of their policies (and the BIG one is confirmations).  Basically, you can only confirm your location once you arrive - but because it was already confirmed to us, we put that information on our Wedding invitations, which have already been sent out.  There is another Wedding happening on our day, so our planning has turned into a free-for-all... first come, first serve.

I'm really unhappy that ROR did not contact brides to notify us of the change in WC.  Seems very unprofessional.  If they want to change the policy, it should be moving forward - rather than jeopardizing plans any bride made before the change.  I've already got quotes from vendors for the poolside reception and now it seems I have to start from scratch.

Sorry for venting.... ROR could have/should have handled this situation better!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
