Do i need a crinoline/hoop type thing?

Recommended Posts

Advice please ladies!

I´ve bought a gorgeous wedding dress, when i tried it on in the shop i was standing on one of those round boxes, the dress looked great, made me feel really slim, hid my hips etc. then when i tried it on at home, obviously without the big round box thing, it looked nowhere near as good. i think this must be because either they had really slimming mirrors at the shop (illegal surely?!?!) or the round thing i was stood on is essential to the way the dress looks, in which case, how can i get around that? Will i not look like a bit of a plonker if i have some sort of petticoat under a chiffon dress?

Here is a picture of the size zero photobucketed model wearing it.

What do you think? (Apart from me losing half my body weight?)

Cheers!

I'm not sure how crinoline would look under a chiffon dress. When I think crinoline, I think itchy, rough tutu material which you would be able to see the pattern of through the dress...KWIM? When you tried it on in the store on the box/platform thing, how long was the dress? Was it long and hang off and then when you tried it on at home it pooled on the floor? Maybe it needs to be hemmed?

Good grief I hope these darn bridal stores don't have trick mirrors! BangHead.gif

ah, that's one of the things i was thinking, when i tried it on in the shop she had me in these killer stilettos, so maybe my posture was better..... It does need taking up a wee bit, i'm a bit of a short-arse (as my dad tells me!)

pat291 will check out that website when i finish work, i'm skiving off enough as it is! thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
