Gift or Tip For Wedding Coordinator?

Recommended Posts

I did a search and didn't come up with anything so I apologize if there is already a thread on this.

What is the etiquette for tipping or giving a gift to the wedding coordinator at a destination wedding? If indicated, when should it be given? Our wedding will be at the Gran Caribe Real Cancun.

Thanks for your help!

I think that would be a very sweet gesture if the coordinator did a great job. Ours was terrible so tipping or gifting her was out of the question but we did tip the photographer extra since she picked up the slack for where the wedding coordinator dropped the ball. You don't have to but if they did a great job, you probably should do a small gift or a tip.

I've been wondering this myself. From what I've gathered from others here I think a lot of people do tip but the amount is totally up to you. If you think she did a good job and was very helpful then I think between $50 and $100 is reasonable. If she wasn't much help then I wouldn't feel obligated to leave anything.

Thanks, I was wondering the same thing. So far, we are a few months away, (I am getting married in Los Cabos in Feb, 2011) but getting any response from the wedding co ordinator via email has been like pulling teeth! Even important emails re: changes to the contract etc.   I understand emails about flowers can wait, but come on!  So we will see if she gets better as things more along closer to the date. I find that I am doing a lot of blank planning because she simply is not there!  We will see.

We just returned from our wedding at Dreams in Cabo.

We tipped probably a lot for everything but we really appreciated the service we received and Mexico is a country where it is customary to tip for services (from what we observed in the many vacations we've taken there).

I think it's a personal choice however I'm not sure it's 100% expected. Tip what you feel comfortable with would be my advice.

We found everyone to work so hard to ensure we were happy and we felt that significant tips were earned and our WC worked with me for almost 1 1/2 years and accommodated us in everything we wanted including last minute changes. Yes in the beginning the email responses were slower but they have so many weddings on the go that they give preference to them in order. As our date approached I would receive same day or next day responses. We didn't have one single thing go wrong and all due to our WC.

Anyway, long drawn out explanation that it doesn't so much matter what other people tip just do your own thing and what you feel you should tip is what you should!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
