DREAMS TULUM brides please post here!

Recommended Posts

General shout out to the ladies that have already been to Dreams, visited or married there - please either post up or PM me your recommendation for a private beach view dinner (Gold dinner as I have the Ultimate Wedding Package) for the wedding reception. I have emailed Sandra requesting the "terrace", don't have a clue what that is? Have read a lot about the Seaside Grill (but don't know if that is private or if the patrons of the restaurant will be too close) and now El Patio where they say it is definitely too close if other patrons will be listening to the wedding music (which we do plan on having, FYI for everyone else, it costs $150 to rent a sound system to hook up your iPod to run your own music).

I believe I will get the "terrace" whatever that is (can anyone clarify? I have just seen pictures of a terrace set up for a wedding) but if it isn't private, perhaps a beach set-up would be better? Not ideal as it's not near the bathrooms, hey... it's a thought, so please, any thoughts on the BEST location for a private gold wedding dinner, please please PM me or post up.

Thanks ladies, all the best!!!!

I've been having anxiety lately too because I feel like there are decisions that I should be making, but Sandra says there aren't. I am haveing about 80 people attend and we don't have a location for the reception set. It's frustrating.

I better not get "bumped"! smile41.gif

No kidding! My fmil called last week and said that they would not be able to make it to the wedding if we kept it on the date we chose. It had been booked for 1 month prior to her realizing she "couldn't make it". After talking to her, though, they're going to make it work.

Oops, I forgot to ask the question I've been meaning to for a while: Is there a place to exchage money at the Dreams Tulum or near it? I want to do some shopping in town, and would like to have some pesos on hand. Also, while we are on the subject of money, how do travelors cheques work? I've never used them, can someone enlighten me.

Has anyone been able to obtain pics or details on the new "convention center/ballroom"? I am not sure where to have or where we are able to have our reception yet (were having @ 70 ppl) and want music and stuff for sure!!! Also where are most of you having your welcome dinners at DT?

Thanks for all your guys words of wisdom! This forum is a life saver!!!

I'm not sure if DT has a money exchange but if they do I can only imagine it will be at a higher rate. Remember, you can pay with dollars EVERYWHERE in the RM. Even the little boy selling gum on the street will take your dollars. But, if you still want some cold hard pesos in your wallet I would suggest exchanging money at the airport. The airport usually has a very competitive rate.

from my experience most hotels will exchange travellers checks but I dont know this for sure at DT. Worth checking. Travellers checks: You basically get a check from the bank and its insured so if you lose it you dont lose your money! You need your passport to get them (i think) and you definitely need your passport to cash them.

Yes, I agree this forum is the BEST!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
