I was curious about music...what is everyone going to walk down the aisle to....are you able to hear it well, do you use a CD or an IPOD?
We used an iPod. I labeled everything so the person working the iPod would not be confused. I had:

Bridesmaids enterance
Bride enterance
Bride & Groom exit
First dance
Dad & Daughter dance
Mom & Son dance
Dinner music
Reception music

It worked out perfect!

I think the total package for a week in a junior suite + air was $4500 for two... she had originally told me $3200 for a suite. And the air was not direct, I looked up a direct flight and it was $549pp... which I think is reasonable. I guess the room is at about $243pp per night... which isn't too far off.... just a lot more than expected!!! How did you handle this with family? What was there total package price?? Were there any discounts for being a wedding party?

I think the time of year has A LOT to do with it. My guests are still in the process of booking their trip. My cousin and his wife booked yesterday and paid $150 pp per night. And can u believe some have said that is expensive!?!?!?

Anyway, wish I had some other words of advice but I think I got the cheaper rate because our wedding is in November.

Oh, if it's any consolation...our airfare is through the roof!!! Our trip is over the thanksgiving holiday so you can imagine how much $$$ it's costing!

maybe I should bump up the date to november! oh wait... duck hunting season... not going to fly. but thanks for the info! I guess we are at $250pp per night.... it wouldn't have been so bad if the TA wouldn't have told me just under $3000 total (2 people w/air 7/7)... and now it is $4500. I don't know what to do!

definitely go with the cheaper room, your guests might get upgraded free, and if not they could pay for the upgrade at the resort, and they get a 50% discount since they are with a wedding group (so only 20$ per room per night for dreams suite gardenview or 30$ per night per room for dreams suite oceanview)

4500$ per couple for a week sounds like A LOT! Plus February is busy season but not the most busy (i.e. Christmas vacation, Easter weekend, March break). Try another agent. Also try going either directly with the hotel or with a tour operator (like Apple vacations I know is a popular one in the US).

I gave them a CD with a song for during the signing of the marriage certificate (Bride and groom plus 4 witnesses, so it takes a couple minutes) but they already had Canon in D to use for the entrance and exit. The guy who took care of the music did a great job (i.e. starting and stopping at the right times, playing the right songs at the right times, etc).

As indicated in my review we paid 1500$ per person for all inclusive package from Ottawa, and 1600$ from Halifax, but we booked in January for April departure, so we may have gotten a better deal (i.e. sorta last minute, seeing as it was only 2.5 months before) than if we had booked way in advance. Also I picked the exact departure date based on the cheapest date (seeing as we were flexible and it didn't matter much when we left). Prices for the few weeks (even a few days) before and after (i.e. march and early April) were were 100$-300$ more. I was checking every single depature date online (using itravel2000.com) and picked the cheapest one, even though it meant our filghts weren't direct (through toronto). About a month or so later they came further on sale and I think were like 100$ cheaper per person. When I checked again before leaving the price was something like 2300$ - 2500$ for the same date (which gives me the impression the packages were nearly sold out). The group quotes I got from travel agents and directly from Air Canada Vacations were all about 100-200$ per person more than the price I found with itravel2000.com which is why I just booked directly with them (one travel agent did offer to match my price, but I didn't bother because I wanted to just book right away and get it over with).

I agree! I feel like a sitting duck, just waiting. My sister and I have May 29, 2009 booked but really want to get STD set out to family and friends. I would love to send some additional information with the STD. Such as, our travel agents card, passport information for those who have not yet gotten theirs, as well as 3 different quotes (7day, 5day and 3day).
Speaking of STD's, has anyone sent additional information with theirs or is it just supposed to be the card/magnet? I just don't want everyone to try and contact ME with all different questions, when infact they should be talking to our agent. Thanks for the help and COQUETAYLOCA I hope you get the date you want.

There is a one hour time difference right now between them and Eastern time.

I always had somebody answer the main number, I always asked, in English, to speak to the wedding coordinators and always got properly transfered. most of the time I got Sandra's voicemail. Since I assumed she wouldn't call me back (with it being long distance) I just kept trying rather than leaving a message.

They work more than 9-1, that's weird they told you that. Landy told me normally they work every day except sundays (during busy season they only get every second sunday off!). And they work long days. Anyways, just keep trying.

Did you see my post a little way back about my welcome booklet / newsletter? I posted a link to download it. You could some of the info in there for your own booklet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
