The only thing with the El Patio location is that you now can not have music there (ie. DJ or renting speakers) so you would not be dancing. We had been planning on having our reception at El Patio for a year or so and was just informed of this "new rule"! We leave Wed and I will take more pics.

Does anyone else need any pics of anything else or any more questions answered while I am there this week?

Hi! We had our reception on El Patio 2 weeks ago (4/19/0cool.gif and it was beautiful. I was really happy with the location because it was private, they made it up beautifully, and I thought it was better for us not to be in the sand - also much better access to bathrooms!

For our group (45 people) we were planning to pay the extra $750 to make it "private" if that was what it took to have a DJ (after reading the new music rule here). However, when we got there Sandra said "of course it is private for your group, and there is no problem with music."

We had the ultimate package and a bigger group, so maybe that is why, but I was very pleased not to have to add that $750!

PM me for a couple good pics of El Patio - I don't have the right version to edit/ compress/ post yet!

You're back! You should post a review and some pictures! This will be the first wedding since mine just over a month ago, and I would love to see some pics of another wedding, and I'm sure the other ladies on here would appreciate it too!

What is the price difference between the two?

I personally would be just a little concerned with DPA since you don't know what it will be like after the renovations (or if they will even be finished in time, these things always take longer than planned). Also there are no DPA brides on here to get advice from! So DT seems more like a safe choice. BUT, if there was a significant price difference, it would make it worth the risk for me since price was one of the most important factors.

The DPA is hardly farther from the ruins, it's like 2 minutes down the road! You can't walk to the ruins from DT anyways (like a 5 minute drive) so that shouldn't really make a difference.

I doubt the wedding coordinators will catch on - in fact I can pretty much guarantee the DT ones won't! I got an email this week from Landy answering the question I sent her like 2 months ago asking for a copy of the wedding text! This even though I got married a month ago (I'm surprised she didn't recognize my name, but then again, they deal with so so many brides)! I laughed! They really have way too many emails to try to keep up with.

Coquetayloca, I'm the one that recommended them, but have never used them before. I booked my room with them a couple of days ago. They take Pay-Pal. When you book in the upper left hand corner you will see a 4 digit number which is your id # for the reservation with them. Then, one to two days later you will get a confirmation # from them assuring you the reservation was made.

I just called reservations at the hotel and they have my reservation under my name for the days I asked for so it all worked out and my guests will be able to save money.

Hope this helps :)

I just got back 2 days ago from my wedding at DREAMS!!!! Amazing.....the rest of you have nothing to worry about! I will post my pictures!! Sandra was wonderful! We were upgraded to an oceanview room when we arrived! The resort was completely full! There were 2 weddings right before mine...we started late about 7:20...no big deal. I had my hair and makeup done....the hair was beautiful and the make up was a little much so I had to wipe some off (HAHA)! I had brought the fabric to copy Sunbride's gazebo idea. I think Sandra got a kick out of it because she kinda giggled a little because I think she has gotten a lot of requests to mimic that one! The minister was good....except the kept saying "thank you, thank you very much" a ton during the ceremony, but he also put in a few funny things which were cute! I had the Dreams of Love Package...only because I wanted the 36 pictures..however, the actual prints that you are given are not very good quality...I don't know if its the paper or the printer, but I probably would have been upset about it if I wouldn't have bought the entire CD for $350 so i will just send them in and have them printed. BRING A WATCH!!!!! There aren't any clocks anywhere and no one wears a watch!!!!!!!!! It drove me crazy not to know the time. I know that yuo are on vacation, but when you have a hair appointment or need to be somewhere its annoying trying to figure out what time it is!!! We had our reception right there on the beach by the seaside grill. We rented the IPOD equipment to have music and even towards the end of the meal we danced a few slow songs. The food was AMAZING!!!!!!OH, and don't forget to put sunscreen on the tops of your feet, ears and in your hairline.....you'll thank me later! Let me know if anyone has any questions!! Also...be prepared to be sad the next day when its over....what a beautiful place to be with all your friends and family....a truly humbling experience!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
