The general consensus is that you can no longer have a private party in a restaurant (they don't want to inconvenience other guests by this anymore) however I wouldn't be surprised if they make an exception, what with the convention center be so new and this being a new policy. Definitely ask them.

I've never heard anyone mention an outside wedding coordinator, would not be a bad idea at all if you want all your details just right, personally I've barely been getting any response from the coordinators about my questions about whether they can order the bouquet I want, and decorating the gazebo/pergola, etc. I'm getting annoyed as my wedding is in 3 weeks!

Lastly, the one question I can answer you with 100% certainty, yes, you can bring an outside photographer and they don't charge you a thing.

Now as for confirming the first two questions, I suggest you call the coordinators, that way you get an answer right away (I called them to confirm my wedding day and time right before I booked since they didn't answer my emails fast enough). Once you've talked to them on the phone, email them to have a confirmation in writing.

I'm getting so frustrated. Sandra and Landy are sending my emotions up and down. I've been having such a hard time confirming a date. Everytime I email them back about an available date, its no longer available. Then they emailed me saying they had the date but in the email it was the wrong date! I finally got them to say they were holding the correct date and time. Now they're saying the only time they have is 2:00 when it was 4:00 before. I'm just getting sick of it. I get so excited and then they let me down again. I just want it set in stone, when and what time. I just want to get on with it!!!!!!

That is frustrating! I went through the same thing and so have many DW brides. My suggestion is have your travel agent take care of this. Brides say they have an easier time if their TA takes care of this- that they get responses and things taken care of more quickly. You may want to try calling Sandra and Landy but then follow up with an email so you can have it in writing. Good Luck!

I would definitely ask about a dinner at a restaurant. Their first response is always going to be no but if you insist they are very likely to bend the rules.

My wedding is in November and I will be having my reception at the Seaside Grill. Sooo again, ask!!!

As far as the WC, they have no problem with you bringing someone as long as you count them as your "guest". They will not charge extra just a normal guest rate. I strongly suggest you bring someone with you since we all know how Sandra and Landy work. I am also looking for someone.

And yes, you can bring a photog as your "guest" as well.

Good Luck!

Thanks ladies! I spoke to Landy this afternoon and she confirmed they have my date and time available, but the wedding form she sent me asks for flight information (which we haven't booked yet since we don't have a confirmed date) and names of witnesses (which we don't have yet because we don't know who will be able to come down 4 FULL days before the wedding). is all this information mandatory before they will reserve your date for you? from what i'm reading it sounds like it, but what an inefficient process smile43.gif

Oh my god! Neen, I'm getting married at 3:00 on January 17th. You sent your papers 20 min before ours for the 4:00 slot. I thought I was going to loose it when she emailed me back and said it wasn't available. I called Landy and she made me feel much better. We're confirmed with papers and she was very sweet about the whole thing. Anyway, I had no idea how competative this place is! It must be a great place to get married since its so hard to get a date!

if you don't have all the info to put in the form, it's not a problem, just write that in the form and then re-send it later when you have the info, that's what I did.

As for having trouble confirming day and time, just call them! It's so much easier! That's what I did. My emails had asked something like "do you have April 1st at approx 4pm?" and they replied "yes we have April 1st at 5pm" and I was a bit disappointed that 4pm wasn't available, but when I called I found out it was, they were just suggesting 5pm would be better because it's closer to sunset (whereas I personally thought it was worse because not enough time for photos). They could have answered something like "yes, we have 4pm or 5pm available" to be clear, but no, they just said 5pm. All this to say that calling is definitely better, you get an answer right away, and you don't have to worry about availability changing between emails.

You don't need flight information. I booked my wedding at the end of January for November 28 and have yet to buy my flight!! Just explain to Sandra and it should be okay. Don't be surprised if they ask you to reserve your room though. I did it a week after I booked my time slot.
Oh, and congrats on choosing Dreams Tulum. You are going to LOVE it!! It is so beatiful, relaxed, and most importantly very flexible when it comes to the wedding planning.
Have fun!

I have had a wonderful experience using DestinationWeddings.com. I have worked with a woman who has been my lifesaver trying to plan this wedding at Dreams. She has contacted Sandra on many occasions and booked my date with ease! She has booked all of my guests and most of us if not all are on the same flight down there and back. The flight has also been changed by the airline several times and we wouldn't even know because she has done all of the changes for us! I don't know what I would have done with out her!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
