Not that it affects me, but for info purposes from other people, I'm assuming the terrace and the beach are still options for groups larger than 20 that don't want to be in the ballroom

I hope that people who want a beach reception will be able to still have one! But the "terasse" is a restaurant ! I am sure people won't be able to have their reception at SeaSide grill or the Mexican; they are both open air restaurants (barely no walls) or "terasse" as some may call them!

If you book the site before the ballroom officially opens I think they will let you have it. My wedding is thanksgiving weekend and by then the ballroom will be open but I was able to get the seaside grill for my reception. I made it clear it was going to be there or another resort and Sandra was nice enough to say she will take care of it. Book it now and I think they will be somewhat flexible.

Hi Everyone.

I am doing most of the planning for my sisters wedding at Dreams Tulum. As most of you know it was a very frustrating experience getting the wedding date, but I have to tell you how much better I felt after reading all of your posts.

The thing that is frustrating me the most is that I can't find a picture of the "wedding gazebo"option. They say it is in a romantic setting next to the seaside grill restaurant. Does anyone have a picture of this?? I have googled it and looked at 17 pages of possibilities to no avail. I have also asked Sandra and Landy both have not responded. I would be eternally greatful for any info!!

Thank you,

Lisa

The "wedding gazebo" on the beach is the 4 poles + cloth ! ! I asked Sandra the same thing since they wrote two places to get married on the beach... Before the hurricain (i think it was in october 2007?) there use to be next to Sea Side grill a place where the romantic diners used to be/ or where they would put the sound system; but the hurricain took it with him ! ! It is gone now ! ! If your sister wants to get married on the beach, her options are the two "4 pole" gazebo at each end of the beach.

personnally I prefer the one next to Sea Side grill (view is nicer)

After reading your e-mail, I think that they will allow people to reserve either The Mexicain or SeaSide Grill (the only two restaurants on the beach with an open air concept. But I guess you will have to pay the 750$ fee for a private reception (closing the restaurant for other tourists). The other restaurants (Portofino, Bordeaux, Chinese or Asian) will no longer allow groups over 20... To think of it, those restaurants are the ones that people have to dress more... and of course, are the most popular ones !

Can one of you future bride ask Sandra if groups can have their wedding reception at SeaSide Grill or The Mexican once the ballroom is open?

I am already married, she will wonder why I am asking this to her ! ! !

But hey, once you see the convention center, you will fall in love with ! ! It is huge and beautiful (it wasn't finished when I was there but it gave me a sence of what it would look like!). Unless you absolutely want to eat outside with your guests... Basically, it will look like the back of the lobby (the one with the amazing stair case). I went to look at the thread I started about the new convention center and the pictures are gone ? ? ? I don't know what happened...

Another thing, SeaSide grill is so close to the water; The Mexicain is close to the sand but far from the water.

One more thing, oh who am I kidding it's going to be a million more things before I get all the answers I need....

Does anyone know of the other ceremony location options. I heard there was an option by the pool, and possibly the entrace to the hotel?? Any input on these choices.

:doh This is how I feel right now LOL

Do you have the map of the hotel ? If so, you will "romantic spots" the ones at the extremeties, are the palces you can get married. The other one in the area where people would have a romantic dinner (or their wedding) / it's a taller + bigger pergola that got taken away after the hurricain. You can get married in the chapel (very cute but can only hold about 20 people) and the two ends of the beach. The one by the pool is the place near The Mexicain restaurant.

One your sister arrives there, she will walk around the resort and might find a spot she wants to get married on the resort ! The resort is so big and beautiful, you can basically get married anywhere there ! BUT... the sound system + gazebos are on the beach...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
