If you want a private reception for your wedding, you have to pay the 750$ on top of the fee for the gold dinner.

I am pretty sure that having your dinner on the beach is considered "private" and thus you would have to pay the 750$, but I'm not sure.

Just wondering if anyone has used the videographer. I'd really like to put find it very expensive at 380$ for 45 mins (I see on the website it looks like the price has gone up to 480$). I'm wondering how good it is. Is there anyway i could see it (i.e. posting it on Utube maybehuh.gif?)

I have somebody bringing a videocamera, but I don't really have anyone to do the video since we only have 7 guests and they are immediate family, and I want them to enjoy the ceremony without being burdened by having to take a good video.

We also had the video included in our package - it was definitely worth it for us. There's some stock footage at the beginning of the resort and then he did the ceremony & followed us around with the photographer for formal pictures. It was nice because I wasn't smiling for a lot of the pictures (I was nervous) so the videographer got some of the more intimate moments between my husband & I in between the shots.

The only complaint that I have about the video was the music that he set it to. He only used one of our songs and the other 3 songs on the video were ones that I would never use. I didn't make any special requests so I can't really complain though. It was also kind of funny/embarrassing to discover that he used the non radio-edit verson of one song - there's a curse word in the middle of my video (I'll just have to get the earmuffs out if we show it to our kids someday).

Sunbride (I think that's the name - I can't go back to check nowblush2.gif) If you are looking at getting both the videographer & the Carribean Trio, you might want to consider the Ultimate Wedding Package. It includes photography (album of 36 photos) the videographer & the Carribean trio - it'll probably work out cheaper than purchasing separately.

thanks for the information both of you. I'll definitely consider gtting, I'm just not sure. If we get a family member (or a random stranger I meet at the resort if I can find somebody to do it!) to do it with our camera, I will add shots of the resort at the beginning, and also ask the person to film our photo shoot afterwards. Then we could put it together and edit it ourselves. I may splurge the 350$ though.

We are using the free wedding package, so paying for the trio & video (the only extras we are considering) is 700$ versus paying 2650$ for the ultimate package (On a side note I think it's stupid that when you upgrade to a better package, you don't get anything as a reward for booking the honeymoon suite or for booking 5 rooms or more. You'd think they would reduce the price by 800$, which is the cost of the free package when you aren't eligible to get it free). There are other nice things that come with the ultimate package (i.e. spa treatment, gold dinner menu, floral centerpieces, hair and makeup services) but none of those are important enough to me to pay 2000$.

We also want to play music (via our ipod and sound equipment)...it will be ok for the beach and patio location...right?

Thank you for reading and your help!

Hi Sarah! We are getting married on May 10th at Dreams. We are having our reception on the Patio/Terrace area and are purchasing the Ultimate Package. If you have your reception here (from what I understand), you do not need to pay the additional $750. The $750 would be applied if you had a reception on the beach or closed one of the restruants for a private event. I hope this helps :)

This is definately true!! I specifically asked this because when we were originally looking at getting married at a sister resort in Punta Cana, they subtracted the value of the "free" package off of the other 2 packages if you met the qualifications. Ohh well! We felt that the middle package was not worth the $ when we priced it out, but the ultimate package (the one we decided on) is with the cost compared to what it would be if you purchased everything separate!

Let me know if you have any more questions! Try to have patience with Sandra and Landy, they are very over-worked! I used to get really frustrated with them until Lisa and Jason and Karen came back and talked about how hard they work and how busy they are!

We haven't booked yet but I asked Sandra about the reception being on the beach (if we would have to pay additional) and her response was:

Yes , you can have the dinner on the beach with no extra fee if you get the Dreams of Lve wedding package

From what I've read, if you don't pay an extra fee then they don't guarantee it will be private. So if another bride who got married the same day decided on doing dinner on the beach that day as well, you would be side by side.

Has anyone stayed in the old rooms? What were your thoughts? We've seen some horrible pictures on line so I'm a little worried about them. Some of our guests are stretching themselves by coming so won't be able to pay the additional fee to be in a Dreams room. I'm just wondering if we should consider another resort where the 'cheap rooms' are better or if you found the old rooms to be fine.

I didn't stay in the hacienda section but I did look in two different hacienda rooms. they were really nice. The only difference I noticed was the bathroom wasn't as big- the tub and shower were both smaller. But other than that they looked nice. Of course Sandra showed us these two rooms so obviously she wouldnt pick a crappy looking room!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
