Corset Wedding Dress Question

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies!

I have a question for you. All you ladies wearing a corset style wedding dress, are you going to wear the modesty flap or not?

I'm deciding wether I want to or not, and don't know what the norm is. I don't want to wear it.

Thoughts?

I LOVE corset dresses, you totally should beacuse they are flattering on ALL bodies! And the nice thing is, depending on how hot of a body I get before Jamaica, haha, if I go up or down I can still wear the dress w/o alterations. That was the main reason why I went with corset.

Plus it looks hot, ha!

Definitely check with your dress. Some dresses the corset goes basically to the butt crack. So sometimes you have to have a little bit of a modisty panel. But otherwise, I love it both ways. So beautiful!

That is exactly what was the case with mine...if I took the panel out my whole butt would have shown -I love the look of the panel out, but I kept mine in and it still looked awesome! Talk to your seamstress if you aren't sure.

I agree with the previous responses, it totally depends on the dress. I actually have 2 different dresses and they are both corset backs. I got 2 because I didn't want the cost of cleaning my "real" dress before our reception back home. Our photographer also really wants to do a "trash the dress" shoot and again, I didn't want to trash my "real" dress. So my fake dress will be used to change into after the ceremony and I will still be able to feel like a bride but not have to worry about what happens to it...and I'm definately not upset about getting to wear the other dress twice!

But sorry...back to your question...the one dress the corset goes down back my butt so I am keeping the piece in; the other dress has an upper and a lower panel and I am only going to use the lower panel.

I love the corset look, it's more forgiving than zipper. You can let it out or tie it up more (if needed at the last minute).

I would take my panel out totally if I could. I have a fairly large tatoo on my back lower middle that I don't want showing. So I'm going to have it removed up till that point just to cover it up.

I don't think there is a norm anymore, if you've seen some of the backless dresses now adays there is nothing wrong with going without the panel.

Good Luck with your dress!

Cheers,

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
