T&C Bands and Hair & Makeup

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I am new to this site and wish I had found this sooner! I am getting married in Turks and Caicos March 19, 2011 at the Somerset. We took a planning trip back in February and fell in love with the place right away! We are having a pretty large wedding - up to 100 guests. So far we have our photography booked (Andy and Kellie from Tropical Imaging) as well as our band. The band we are using is the Island Boys - has anyone heard of them or know if they are good for weddings? We like cover music, with island "flair" mixed in too. When we were down there we heard a lot about them, but were wondering if there were other bands worth considering... I can't find any websites or information on wedding entertainment.

I've also book my hair/makeup with Shenique - who I hear is amazing. But she's expensive! Just wondering if there are any other wonderful (less expensive) hair/makeup artists that my bridesmaids could use.

My wedding coordinator, Monique was on vacation last week so I'm sure I could just ask her when she gets back, but I figured you guys would be a great resource too!

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

The only other make up artist I know is Ann from Maxime's (649) 946-5093. Geraldine from the same salon does hair as does April from April's Salon and Bridget who works out of her home (she use to own the salon that became Maxime's but went to work from home when she had her son)

All of them are great and are in demand. Most of them have thriving businesses on island and a real booked following here. So for them to work for weddings they have to justify being away from their regular clients and bookings. I know I book Ann a good 2-3 weeks in advance for pedicures and I usually book April 5-6 weeks in advance. I think you'll probably find their prices very similar (I have also know them to work together for larger bridal parties)

We don't have a huge population here so there aren't huge numbers of wedding entertainers in general. I know the Island boys are a popular band here. Most of the other live entertainers tend to be more "softer" background kind of music vs dancing etc We also have a few DJ's here as well if you want to go that route.

Hope that helps!

I keep hearing T&C brides rave about Shenique, but if we are going to have our wedding at Beaches where outside vendors aren't allowed, how would that work? Would Beaches let her on the property just to do my makeup or would I need to leave the resort and go to her salon? And if so, how far away from beaches is she located?

  • 2 weeks later...

Soon-to-be-MrsD you could also ask Monique about Nada...thats a band that performs at Somerset weekly and is their vendor of choice. Hockeymom I think Shenique can come there to do your makeup. I will ask Meagan since I know she used her adn stayed at Beaches.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
