I've been getting that alot from people who I haven't invited. And I say to them "it's a good thing you're not going!" And if anyone I did invite would say that, I would just say "fine and i'll see you when I get back." I really don't have the time and patience for people and their excuses.

I get that all the time, but at least you are hearing "maybe it'll be safer by the time your wedding rolls around", the remarks I get are only "it's not safe in Mexico why would you ask your friends and family to go there"....just remember to do what you want to do and what I've learned is that the people that really love you and want to be there will be there.

Sorry about the rude remarks, and yes, I've heard them as well....not about T&C, but we did consider mexico in the beginning and FMIL said she wouldn't go because it's too dirty, and she bitched up a storm when we were boooked in Jamaica as well. I think you just learn to have to let any negative comments roll right off you. We did end up changing our venue, but I didn't really mind because T&C was my first choice anyway, but I thought it would be too expensive for our guests. So now when FMIL complains about the price, I just remind her that SHE was the one who refused to go to any of the less expensive reosrts we picked so now you just have to deal with it!! neenerneener.gif

So try to not let it get to you, and if you do need to rant, you know we're all here to support you :)

LOl at Mischaka! One of my BM's (a very close cousin) dropped out because of this. She lives on the east coast. I told her that she shouldn't fly then-ever. I said you stand more of a chance with terrorism and you haven't stopped flying yet!

Ignorant people will just not shut up. I got that when I went to a wedding in Mexico, and on vacation to Israel. It doesn't matter where, people who don't know will only repeat what they see on the TV b/c they don't have the time or interest to do the research before they put in their two cents.

One bride on this forum really put it into perspective for me and I used this example all the time when people had comments about having my wedding in Mexico:

So there's gang violence in New York. Does that mean you'd be afraid to vacation in California? Because that's about how far away the violence in Mexico is!

Love it!

My own parents told me the same thing, and my step dad nearly convinced my mom not to go b/c he was scared they were going to get shot. I totally understand! We told people that if they were really that concerned about it then we would have a shot of tequila for them on the beach!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
