Just the two of us???

Recommended Posts

I think that if you are comfortable with it just being the 2 of you then you should definitely go for it!! This is your wedding, and you should follow your heart and do what feels right. I'm not sure when your wedding date is, but I also have a feeling that people may change their minds after all the drama calms down, so you just never know.

My FI and I had planned a big traditional wedding, but after dealing with drama right from the start, we ditched that idea and decided to have a DW! We invited our small families and the original wedding party, but only 4 people are coming with us. We instead will have an AHR for everyone the day after we get back. We knew our families weren't coming, but some of them were creating the drama from the start, so it is a sigh of relief to leave them behind...but I have to say it makes me sad that my mom won't be there (financial reasons only). Do what you feel is best and what will make you both happy, and in the end, it will be worth it! Good luck!

  • 4 weeks later...

I WISH my delimma was between us and our familie but our issue is that he wants a private ceremony with just us too and I want a large grand event with fireworks. {sigh} That's where the DW comes in. I told him that we could go to a far away island and get married and we only had 5 months to plan so nobody would really come. He agreed. But what I know is that my family would come if it was clear across the world tomorrow so it's kind of working out like that. My parents will be there and a few (like 5 or 6) friends that could afford it on such short notice. He doesn't know that yet but it'll be okay.

So by having it in 4 months, thousands of miles away, we cut down on the number of people who are actually going to be there but I was still able to send out my STD's and Invitations like it was my real grand wedding. We kind of both got our way based on default by the timeing and place. I still was able to tell my family and invite them and build a website and send invites and do all the fun planning stuff I wanted to do as if those people were coming but in actually, it will only be me and him standing up there and my parents and those few people (mind you they have only shown interest, no one has booked yet). So that works out well for me. I felt like I was at least able to extend the invitation and tell everyone and get well wishes and make my family feel included but when it comes down to it, that can travel that far on such short notice. Which is a perfectly reasonable excuse. So now, we're both happy.

I guess I just had a problem feeling like it was all private and no hoopla and feeling inconsiderate by not inviting my guest but we kinda killed 2 birds with one stone by having it so soon and so far away.

My fiance and I have decided to go along with our plan of a destination wedding but now it will only be the two of us! We are now planning on a AHR on our return. I have looked all over the site and kind find any other brides in my boat...is there anyone out there? What are your thoughts/suggestions?
I am almost positive that my only guests are going to be my parents and my 11 year old daughter. This is our second marriage, so it was not going to be big and elaborate to begin with. But I really wish that at least my FSIL and our friends would come along... but as you know, time and money (nobody has either)!!! We are also planning an AHR. Nothing big, maybe either a cocktail party or a sit down dinner in a nice resturant.

My husband and I are getting married by ourselves in the Dominican Republic. At first I was a little worried about whether or not it was going to be awkward with just the two of us and no guests. I now think that it is going to be great! We won't have to babysit guests or feel bad about not spending time with them after the wedding (it is our honeymoon too afterall!). We get married in October.... so excited. Wish you best of luck

We did our wedding just the two of us, and it was beautiful. We were in Mexico when we got married. It was beautiful. We just renewed our vows this month, and we are going to have a reception in Mexico where we got married now that we are a bit more established. We are looking at having a beach ceremony, along with a reception. Just remember, the wedding is going to be about you and your hubby, and that is all that matters, and once the occasion comes up again, you can renew your vows beautifully if that is what you wanted.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
