Paying own Wedding / Invitations

Recommended Posts

My FI and I are paying for our wedding completely ourselves. Should the formal invitations still list both of our parents (who will be in attendance) as the one's requesting our guests to come?

I'm assuming we just have some type of invitiation saying we request their presence but didn't know what others experience has been.

We are paying for our wedding this is how we worded ours:

Together with their families

Janine X

and

Christopher Y

request the honour of your presence

at the celebration of their marriage

Saturday the thirteenth of November

Two Thousand and Ten

At four o'clock in the afternoon

The Somerset on Grace Bay

Princess Drive

Providenciales, Turks & Caicos

Hope this helps. I will try to post a link to a site that has wording suggestions depending on the type of wedding etc.

Very similar to Janine's:

Tracy Ann x

and

George Vincent x

request the honor of your presence

at their marriage

on Friday, the sixteenth of July

Two thousand ten

at five o'clock

Paradisus Palma Real

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

My mom was with me when we chose our invitations and she agreed completely that our parents' names didn't need to be included since they are not paying for our wedding.

mine was similar to this...i didn't mention my parents or family at all. it's us that want them there and are making that request.

We're paying for it ourselves also( glad to see that we're not alone). I wanted to choose wording that acknowledges both sets of parents anyway so this is what we did:

Bride

Daughter of Mr.and Mrs. X

And

Groom

Son of Mr. and Mrs. X

invite you to share in the joy

when they exchange

marriage vows

and begin their new life together

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
