RIU Ocho Rios Help!

Recommended Posts

We just had our wedding on June 25 at ROR. When we got there we tried to track down Chandlyn, only to find out she no longer worked there. Her replacement was Tina (from a Montego Bay Riu), but Tina did not have any of our documents that we had sent prior. We still got married and everything, although I'm trying to track down a new e-mail address to resend the documents because she told us she didn't have access to the other account that I emailed Chandlyn at.

Thank you for taking the time to post this! I appreciate it. It's also good to know that she came from another Riu property so she can easily just break into it.

That mskes a lot of sense because I keep emailing the Chandlyn account. What's funny is that my TA emailed that acount a few weeks ago and got a reply in 2 days but since then hasn't been able to contact Tina.

I really just need to know that we will still get married and that our reserved spot is still booked.

Thanks for this info!

Jesselyn10 i emailed the [email protected] email today (which i found on the main riu weddings site) regarding questions that I had and got a reply from the sales office and he copied the main weddings manager, jose (in mexico). jose replied back and answered my questions. you might want to try that route. it's [email protected] if you want to email either of those addresses that may get you a confirmation and some answers.

I was emailed by Antonette from the ROR this evening. I assume she is an assistant WC?

I am SO happy that I have heard from them!

(prematurely sent the message!)

Thanks for the email address YumYum! I received a reply from Chandlyn's old address, from an email I sent 2 weeks ago right after I found out she was let go from Antonette. I have printed out everything and am bringing it down with me.

Everyone on this forum has been such a great help - thank you all! Now I can concentrate on my planning thread wink.gif

I wonder what happens if they don't receive our documents. I am super nervous about this.

Bring them along with you and check when you have your appointment with the wedding co-ordinator.

Everything for us went super smooth and I was worrying for nothing. Try and relax and enjoy your day! It is what it is :)

I did bring all my docs with me and although they did receive the mailed copies, the WC still took the copies I brought.

You were SO right about the day running smoothly!  Everything was perfect!

JesseLyn, I am hoping you can help me.  The weddingsbyriu website indicates that we are to get our birth certificates notorized and they are to contain the full name of the couple and their parents.  Our birth certificates do not show our parents names on them.  Is this going to be an issue to legalize the ceremony?  What did you do?  Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Do you have the long version of your birth certificate?  You need to order this.  The small wallet sized BC doesn't have your parent's names on it but the long form (the one that your parents filled out in the hospital when you were born, assuming you were both born in Canada) is the copy that you have to get notarized.

You have to go to your provincial government website and there is a way to order your long form birth certificates and have them sent to your house.  I had to order them from the Registrar General here in Ontario so  imagine the same office in other provinces will provide the same service.  It also says that the person whose birth certificate is being ordered has to be the one who ordered it - not true because I ordered my FI's without a problem.

Once you get your long form birth certificate - which is a stamped, legal copy of the original - MAKE COPIES OF THEM and have the copies notarized.  Do not send the resort the stamped copy that you receive  from the government.  The reason behind this is that the government will only issue a certain number of the long form BC to you (and it's not many) so photocopy the original and have the copy notarized.  This is what I did without a problem!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
