Preventing tan lines before the wedding?

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies, I am getting married in Jamaica and you all know you have to be there 2 days prior to your wedding. I was just wondering what are you ladies or past brides done to prevent any tanning prior to the wedding day. I don't want any tan lines in my wedding pictures. I know you can use sunblock, but if you are in the sun all day for 2 days I am sure you will get somewhat of a tan.

Just wondering if anyone though about this and if so what are your plans?

I tan *really* easily and didn't mind having color but didn't want to be super dark either. For the 3 and a half days before the wedding I wore a really wide brimmed hat out in the sun, and slathered SPF 60 on my face, neck, shoulders and arms (wherever the wedding dress would show skin) and also wore strapless bikinis and dresses etc., so I wouldn't have tan lines. It worked great! I can tell that the higher SPFs totally make a difference because my body (which I used 30 most of the time) is a few shades darker than my face/neck, which I used SPF50+

Ditto to the strapless swimsuits and lots of sunscreen. I am super fair and went through a bottle of spf 70 before the wedding because I was so paranoid about tan lines and getting burned. I also tried to avoid sitting by the pool all day drinking non-stop (1. to avoid the sun, 2. to avoid the beer belly and 3. to encourage myself to mingle with the guests who don't enjoy just sitting all day). The plan worked and I had no burn or tan lines, I actually spent some quality time with some guests who I probably wouldn't have otherwise, and our wedding pictures came out just perfect.

good tip about the strapless bathing suits!!!

i'm going to start checking out the summer sales in the next couple of months to stock up on clothes and bathing suits for the wedding. being that my wedding is April 2011, i figure i'm going to have to buy all my cloths at the end of this summer to get the best deals!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
