Thats my plan. Like everyone else, I'd love to pay for their dresses. Unfortunately, we just can't. So I offered to pay deposits to get them ordered after the initial selecting...but they all turned me down anyway. I feel guilty as it is making them pay for a trip when it was our bright idea to get married so far away. But FH (in his practical judgement) made the point to me that its not like they are just paying to fly somewhere, sit around in an ugly room while doing nothing, show up to be in our wedding for 20 minutes then fly home. They WILL get a bit of a vacation/break out of it some where beautiful with a lot to enjoy. BEING THERE won't exactly be a hardship.

I've just urged people to say no if they don't feel they can afford to do it told them that I completely understand if thats the case. I also asked them to say it NOW as opposed to 6 months down the road. What I've found is that most people thought trips like this are much more expensive than what they actually are. When I gave them ball park for what my research has come up with, they were suprised and said that with a year's notice, they could swing it.

smile124.gif I bought all the dresses, the bridesmaids and flowergirls. I only have 3 bridesmaids, and 2 flowergirls. I bought them b/c I figured they were paying so much be at the wedding, that I should help them out. Plus, my sister (one of the Bridesmaids) has 2 daughters (my flower girls), and I figure it's costing them a fortune for the whole family to be there. I don't think I would've paid for them if I could've found them for cheaper, but I like what I like.. Darn that expensive taste. smile78.gif

my bm dresses were pretty cheap - $50 @ white house black market. one bm already had hers, my sis bought her own, and i paid for the last one.

i think it depends on what else you're doing. the bm that already had the dress was given $500 from us for travel expenses. my sister's expenses were paid for mostly by my parents, so i wasn't too worried about her, and the bm whose dress i paid for had her flight paid for by her in-laws...since no one is close i don't have to worry about anyone talking about $$ while we're there, but i'd take each person's monetary abilities into account.

(could you follow that? it's confusing to reread!)

I only have one attendant, my sister as my MOH, but because she is broke and will be paying for both her and her little one to go down south, the least I can do is get her a great outfit.

I'm considering getting her a fancy coloured top and a plain white skirt, so she can wear the pieces separately if she wanted to.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
