We have booked our Wedding at SGOR - Now many of the of our guest are complaining about the price. And now I feel guilty. Is anybody else getting this reaction. I keep telling them that it is a 5 star resort and we are getting an amazing price to begin with. But it is our wedding I really didint want to do it at a to me less than par resort. What reactions are you guys getting from your guest for this resort and others?fryingpan.gif

I'm getting the same feedback from my guests as well. Most people are used to booking their trips last minute and get good deals... or they'll go to a 3-start or 4-star resort... I try to explain that it is a wedding and that we wanted something nice and we need to book a while in advance and since it can't be a last minute thing, the prices tend to be higher.

While I used to get upset over it everytime someone would say something... now I don't care anymore. If people really want to come, they'll make it happen. If they can't afford to come, then we will see them at the AHR. We knew this before making the decision to go with a destination wedding.

It's hard to please everyone.

Rule #1 in planning a DW guests will always complain about price.....always. I think Bride2Be21 is right your wedding is in April and there is still time for the prices to drop. If they want to be a part of it they will. We announced our wedding over a year in advance and mostly family complained...not friends. Guess what? They all were too excited to let us know they booked and were able to find affordable flights. Your guests still have time for flights to go down....but you must also prepare yourself that not everyone will make it, but the two most important people will...you and FI.

It is so hard to please everyone. And we are not doing a AHR...so this will be it. And I actually think the prices will go up since the wedding is around spring break time. But, I really shouldn't care, but it bugs me to hear about it consistently.

we have heard the same things, with one guest commenting that we were having the guests pay for the wedding! Totally not true, but what I found, with the long time to make plans, those that want to attend will, those who don't, won't.

I have notice that some guests are considering this to be a vacation with a wedding thrown in for good measure! Oh well...I have been to DW and they are beautiful and intimate, which is what my daughter wanted.

We've gotten the same reaction....and I keep telling people to hold tight that the prices will hopefully drop, but I'm getting tired of having to defend our decision to have a DW, and then defend our choice of resort. I spent a lot of time researching and fell in love with this one....I know it's not for everyone but it's our wedding and we want the best for our wedding. We did waver a bit in the beginning b/c of all the complaining, but in the end we've stuck by our decisions, and we're happy if people come, and if they can't well, that's their loss. Your guests still have plenty of time to book! I wouldn't let it stress you out too much! it's just not worth it!

You should not feel guilty! It is your wedding and your guests can choose to go, and will go if they really want to. For some odd reason it is just easy for people to poke holes in someone else's planning. Remind your guests that they get a vacation and quality time with friends and family.. instead of a couple of rushed hours if you were having a wedding at home. Stay positive and don't let the negative nancys get you down :)

I don't know if it will help at all but I have an article about what to look for in all inclusives and what the differences are! I find that many will say that they want the cheapest resort thinking that all of the all inclusives offer the same exact things and ambiance.

Feel free to pass it along to your guests!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
