Mexico Wedding May Change to East Coast Wedding= Help?!?!

Recommended Posts

Hey East Coast Brides,

You may not know me because I was mainly focused on (with tunnel vision) on a Moon Palace resort wedding. After talking with family (the A listers) I don't think they can afford the trip and we can't afford to pay for them. Sooo I am trying to get some secondary ideas. We are from Pittsburgh and are trying to find some great ideas for an East Coast wedding...maybe Nags Head area or out skirts or Deep Creek. I am so lost now. Our budget is about 10k. I am the frugal one and don't want to do much more than that. Our guest list is undecided...maybe 100. Any ideas will help? Thanks!

We considered the Outer Banks to make it easier on our guests too, but the nice places around there like the Hilton Pier House and Sanderling were way out of our budget for the venue alone ($8000-10,000) When is your wedding? We're planning ours for 15 months out so we're giving people plenty of time to save money and we're expecting people to come down just for 2-3 days, not a whole week.

Have you looked at this site yet?

Outer Banks Wedding Association This may help.

We are planning an OuterBanks wedding also but much smaller- under 25 people. I think if you plan your wedding in the off-peak season you can probably keep it in your budget. The problem I have is there are 4 kids and one school employee that can't come during off peek so we are cutting back a bit. Good luck!

10K on east coast wont go very far at all depending on your guest list. We were at 10K and then had to move up to 15K. I wont go any higher. If I have to, then its just gonna be us at a fancy restaurant with family. I'm trying to have a $15K wedding. We are having between 50-75 guests. Knowing this info, we had to first figure out how much we could afford a plate and then go from there. I think the maximum we can do is about $85-90 a plate. You still have to factor in taxes and gratuity to come up with the final number for the venue. To cut down on costs you can have your wedding on a Thursday, Friday or Sunday. I hope this helps. I know it is really tough. I wanted to be married in the St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the beach at my aunt's house. But because of the same situation you're in I'm settled for Cape May. It's beautiful so I'm content I guess.

Aisha, if you haven't signed any contracts yet, have you looked at Bridgewater Manor?

It's a pretty facility with outside ceremony space with a man-made pond. The food is incredibly good (the best i've tasted in NJ) and their prices can't be beat!!

If you can have your date on a Friday or Sunday (think memorial day or labor day weekend) they can accomodate your number of guests. The rooms are nice and again their prices are awesome for jersey!! They have prices at $62 per person WITH taxes and gratuity!!

Central New Jersey Catering Facility | The Bridgewater Manor

they allow you to eat at their restaurant for a food tasting. 3 courses. you just gotta pay for your own drinks without signing a contract. it's worth checking out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
