My dress came in, and it's too small!

Recommended Posts

I went to visit my dress on Friday, and it was too small! It zips up but I think I popped a rib out of place to get it zipped up! sad.gif They lady at the shop said I need to loose 1 to 2 inches to fit in the dress. She said this like it's not a hard thing to do which annoyed me a little. So now I'm all stressed out about my dress, am I going to loose some weight? Is the dress going to fit? What if it doesn't? sad.gif If I don't loose the weight hopefully they'll be able to take it out a couple of inches.

Oh dear.

Did they measure you in the shop if they did and you havnt grown then i wouldnt be letting them anywhere near with pins to take it out.If its there faux pas then tell them straight you need them to rush order a new dress two inches is one dress size.Quite honestly i dont know where you could loose the weight from and for it not to affect your whole look.Is it worth walking up the aisle maga skinny with you not looking anything other than waif like.

Be strong if its there muck up demand a rush order, yes you have time but theres no way you are leaving your nerves janggerling because it hasnt been smooth sailing so far.

It will be worth the stress lol its a very pretty dress xx

oh no i'm sorry!! from the back pics, it doesn't look like it's too tight at all. but of course you want to be comfortable. I'm sure you'll be fine. try not to stress b/c it might make you gain weight. honestly, from the pics it doesn't look like you need to lose any weight at all, it seems like you have a thin frame already so maybe you will need to have the dress let out a little so you can be comfortable. that should be easy for a good salon.

Honestly, the dress looks great.. It really doesn't look to small at all.. BUT, you want to feel comfortable in it. If the dress store measured you, they should order you a new dress!!!! THey are the ones who messed it up....I really don't see that you could lose 2 inches anywhere you look small to start with. I would get on the store to order you another dress if they are the ones who messed up the measurements. IF all else fails, there is probably a little give in the sides where someone could take it out a little. or maybe you could bargain for alterations for free , thats if they are able to take it out.

This happened to me too. The store rush ordered a new one and I had it in 2 weeks. You do not need to lose weight! It looks like your wedding is next February...why aren't they ordering a new one?? Oh...also for mine the dress didn't match the meaurements they sent in! It was the designers fault!

First, I don't think you need to lose 1-2 inches to make the dress fit. You are so tiny as it is. See if they can let the dress out, or if they screwed up ordering it (my bridal shop did!) see if they can get you a new one asap. You have time!!

However, you look beautiful in your dress! Comfort is a must though. You don't want to be miserable.

first of all, you and the dress look beautiful! 2nd, im appalled someone would say that, how very unprofessional! not to mention completely whacked. you dont have and inch or 2 to spare, and even if you did there was obviously some mistake made in the measuring or ordering process. why on earth would they measure you then order the wrong size?

hmmmm, im also wondering if it could be possible the dress is mis-labeled? is there a way to try on the sample dress in the same size to see how it fits? if the sample in the same size fits fine, the dress could be made incorrectly or mis-labeled.

either way, be firm and tough about it! this is a big costly mistake and you should NOT be responsible to fix it.

good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
