Looking for a fabulous resort for daughter's wedding family friendly HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

My daughter is looking for a fabulous family friendly resort in Mexico that has great food (prefer all-inclusive) and would have to have a great ceremony location that is NOT on the beach. Also she would like a private indoor/outdoor reception. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. She is open to anywhere in Mexico and she is looking to get married in late April or anytime in May 2011.

Thanks in advance,

Arlene (mother of the bride)

Hi Arlene, welcome to the forum. Have you checked over on the Mexican thread? There is a lot of info on resorts and the like and the ladies can sure give you some help. You can also go to the travel section and chat with one of the TAs. Good luck!

Hi Arlene! Congrats on your daughter's upcoming wedding! And how nice of you to help her plan!

I'll recommend Dreams Puerto Vallarta since we were just married there over Memorial Day weekend. You can read my review (in my siggy), but we had a fabulous time and it was everything we had hoped for & more. Dreams is definitely family-friendly and is all-inclusive -- two criteria we were also looking for when we researched potential locations. We had 3 nieces & nephews under age 7 and a friend of ours brought their infant daughter.

The hotel is a good size without being a mega-resort, the food is delicious, it has its own private beach and is only about 10 minutes South of downtown PV, a beautiful culturally-rich city. Many of our guests (including both sets of parents) had never been to an all-inclusive before and everyone was blown away by the service, food, drinks & location. For us, Dreams was absolutely perfect!

And although we were married on the beach, they have a lovely gazebo for ceremonies as well. Autumn (username autjo) was married there and she has a great review & pics of the gazebo. Our reception was outside at one of the pool terraces & was private.

Here's the Dreams PV thread (it's really long, but there is a ton of helpful info there).

Best of luck to your daughter & family and let me know if you have any questions!

Hello and Welcome! Your daughter is so fortunate that you are helping her through the entire process! I'd like to recommend that you look at Moon Palace in Cancun. We chose MP for a variety of reasons including the ones that you mentioned of being all-inclusive and family-friendly. It even has a Kids Club that has planned activities just for the little people. Additionally, they traditionally offer a special during the summer where there's no charge for kids during certain months. We have a blended family with a total of five kids, so this is very cost-efficient for us.

The resort is spectacular with a few beautiful gazebos that aren't on the beach but have panoramic views of the beach. The also have outdoor and indoor options for receptions. There are multiple reviews on Moon Palace Cancun from BDW brides. Go to wedding reviews from the main page, then type Moon Palace in the search box to access them. Most have pictures with accolades, advice, and critiques of each experience.

I hope that this helps. Happy Planning!!!

I second SouthernSweetie's Moon Palace recomendation. It's a fabulous resort. I've been once before & am leaving a week from tomorrow for my wedding there. Also, Aventura Palace is another Palace resort very similar to MP which is very nice too, & has one side that is family friendly & one side adults only (I think...I went there a few years ago & no kids were allowed but I think that has changed). We chose MP over Aventura because we have lots of golfers in the group, & we don't have to leave the resort to play golf if we stay at MP. When we stayed at Aventura, golf was an all day affair because of the long drives to the other Palace golf courses. Good luck with your planning. You will find TONS of info on this site.

I's recommend Dreams Puerto Aventuras. That's were my wedding will be in September. I choose it because some of my guests will be bringing children and DPA has a lot of activities set up for them. There is a kids club were they can hang out all day and be entertained. And, most importantly, there is an adult's only pool were adults can escape!

I haven't been down myself yet but I hear the food is wonderful.

There is gazebo for weddings that is in the ocean (the aisle is kinda a bridge). They have several indoor and outdoor reception locations and don't charge extra for them. When I was looking I found a lot of resorts make you have your reception in a corner of one the the restaurants so it's not very private, or they charge an extra $80 a person to have a private reception.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
