Do Not Play List

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I looked through all the threads on here for this and I didnâ€t see it.

What is on your Do Not Play List? I am making lists of all the songs for the DJ to play, but I canâ€t think of any do not play songs and I KNOW there are some.

So whatâ€s on your list not to play?

Oh, I do know one song I donâ€t want to hear…… the Chicken Dance!

hey!- it's Lisa

Great topic!

- Love shack by B52s! UGH! HATE IT!

- Macarena

- Play That Funky Music

- YMCA

I'm sure I can think of a lot more. Usually my biggest complaint at weddings is how horrible the music is to dance to.

***side note- I love the chicken dance! I think it's so fun

I don´t know what it´s called, but there´s a song that gets played at every wedding where you all have to sit in a line inbetween each others legs and lean from side to side banging your hands on the floor. KWIM?

That is DEFINITELY not getting played at my wedding, (although maybe that´s just an english thing, any they won´t have heard of it in mexico)

Hi! I was wondering when I would spot you on here! I used to love the chicken dance when I was young but after hearing it everyday during the summer from 5th grade to 9th grade, I just can't hear it anymore! fryingpan.gif Oh I can't stand YMCA! Good picks! They are all going on my list!

Oh the hokie pokie! I forgot about that! Good one!

Haha. There was actually a section in our DJ Questionnaire for Do-Not-Plays. I put down the following:

- YMCA

- Macarena

- I Will Survive (it's a breakup song! i don't get why it's played at every wedding!!!)

- no country music

- Chicken Dance or anything similar.

great idea for a thread!! i can't wait for everyone's input and point of view on this!!

i'm gonna go with ldybug's list but include the chicken dance and some of my own:

no bruce springsteen. i HATE bruce AND i live in NJ!! he is an over rated folk singer in my opinion (sorry any one that loves him).

FI doesn't want to hear anything by bon jovi.

most music at weddings really are terrible to dance to. disco is heavily played for some reason. why?!?! cause it usually isn't offensive to anyone? i find it offensive to my ears!!!

let me stop before i start a rant again.... lol!!

Wow! I hadn't thought of this I am gonna have to use all the songs you ladies listed plus include a few more:

Hot, Hot, Hot by Point Dexter (I am from the caribbean and if I never heard this song again in my life, it would be too soon)

Conga by Gloria Estefan (I don't know if its a Miami thing but all the weddings I have been to recently have played this song)

You are so beautiful - I don't know by who

Kung Fu Fighting

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
