Hi

My name is Nikki and I am 24yrs old I have been with my fiance for 5 yrs and we have a little boy together who is 18months old. We recently decided we would like to take a vacation in October. While looking for vacation packages we realized we could get married in Punta Cana for way cheaper than we could possibly here. I am fighting right now to decide to go the easy way and gt married here and just have a symbolic wedding in DR or do the whole thing in DR?? Any suggestionshuh.gif

It is nice that you and your fiance decided for marriage. If you are looking for cheaper way so I will suggest you a symbolic wedding in DR.

Hi PuntaCanaNikki!

We also debated over the whole "where to do it legally" thing, we decided on getting it legally done before leaving so we wouldn't have to deal with blood testing and translating, etc.

Just run a search through the forum and do a list of pros & cons to weigh your options out?

I see you're a fellow Canadian, maybe this could be helpful:

Congrats & Happy Planning!

Hey Nikki,

Most couples getting married in PC are doing a symbolic wedding and you can hire Pastor York who does a full wedding for you, so know one knows the difference! I think he even has you sign papers. I think this may be the way to go as their is a lot less paper work and hassels. I belive he costs 300 to perform the wedding for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
