Wedding Day: How important is the day of the week?

Recommended Posts

I don't think the day of the week is important at all!!! your anniversary will not always fall on that day of the week anyway. Everyone gets married on Saturdays probably because it is convenient for guests to attend. If your at the beach and your guests are already there... get married any day!!!!

I'm getting married on a wednesday. I picked this because the guests are coming on saturday and leaving Friday. I figured this would give them a few days there before the wedding and a few days after the wedding to do what they wanted.

We are getting married on a Thursday, but we didn't really care too much what day of the week it fell on. The actual date - 5/5 - was more important than the day of the week. And our guests will be at the resort for a full week so I don't think the day made any difference to them either.

We chose a Saturday b/c it was Memorial Day weekend (3-day weekend in US) & we were trying to consider my school & our family's work schedules. It worked out well b/c people had Monday off and could hang around on Sunday instead of leaving right away.

But while were there, there were weddings on Monday night & Tuesday night so I really think it's just personal preference & what works best for you/your group.

I think it is important but I think the importance lies in the circumstances surrounding your wedding. For example, a Thursday or Friday wedding may not be as stressful on guests at a destination wedding as it would be at a local wedding. At a DW the guests are already there and they are waiting for the big day, whereas at a local wedding, guests have to make their way from work or take the day or half a day off of work in order to attend. I am having my wedding on a Sunday, this is because I observe the sabbath and so will not have it on a Saturday. I have to take into consideration the fact that people have to work the next day and that though it is in NJ, it will be a three to four hour drive for most people attending, because of this I have to consider the timing of the wedding day. So the day is definitely an important thing (at least in my opinion)

I agree with AishaB - if you are doing a local wedding, the day of the week does matter. People coming in from out of town need to make arrangements, etc. For us, everyone will be joining us for the week down south, so we have a little more flexibility in terms of the day. We chose a Wednesday, but it could have easily been the Thursday. We didn't want Friday, as our guests would be leaving the next day.

We're getting married on a Monday.

I love that it doesn't really matter with a DW.

We're flying out on a Wednesday to save costs, and we'll marry on the following Monday then leave 2 days later. Exactly like we wanted it. Plus, I assume a Monday won't be as popular with other brides and we're hoping to be the only wedding that day.

We're getting married on a Tuesday! Our package is from Saturday to Saturday, so it is right in the middle of our vacation week! Our resort requires us to be there 2 fulls days before the wedding day. We decided to have a symbolic wedding in Mexico so we didn't have to worry about being there 3-4 full working days in advance.

we're getting married on fri, because FI chose the actual date (the 24th is significant to us). it works out better as well because our guests leave sun so they still have a full day after the wedding to relax and unwind and Fi and I can spend time with everyone enjoying the memories :)

I'm getting married on a Saturday but I don't really think it matters what day. At first we considered the Thursday cause its a holiday in the US but then we thought if people are making a vacation of it who cares what day it is, lets do it on the day we want and not cause its a holiday. Also we have to be on the island 48 hours prior and with work and everything else Saturday worked better. I know some resorts give cheaper prices if you marry on a weekday but not at my resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
