Congratulations! Thanks for a great review. Were getting wed at the akumal beach, staying at the coba and have either the medittarano or portofino to choose from. Im glad you rated the food I wanted to eat at the themed brazillian but they say you have to be at the hotel yourr staying at. Its very expensive for the $24 pp per hour for drinks after at the jacuzzi br isnt it? But I imagine you have to hire this just to carry on the party?! xx Im just debating on asking for the gazebo over beach as I need to wear heels as my hubby to be is 6ft 2 and Im 5ft 6, so would like to be taller in my dress.

thanks xx

We had wanted the Brazilian restaurant too because we thought it would be such a unique way to have a wedding dinner but they told us the same thing. The Portofino worked out wonderfully though and a bunch of us went to the Brazilian al a carte another night instead.

We had been given the same bar prices for the reception but when we met with Karla she didn't even ask us what level we wanted. We had planned to go with the lowest level (beer, wine, margaritas) since the snack bar is literally a 30 sec stroll from the pool if our guests wanted something else. When the party started we noticed that we had a fully stocked bar and at the end of our trip when we received the bill, we weren't charged any more than what we had expected...I honestly don't know how much they charged us for the bar!

I would highly recommend the poolside reception. Absolutely worth the cost. However if it's not in your budget, I've heard of other wedding parties just going to one of the other bars on the resort and still having a great time.

Hi

Thanks for reply well we're actually having our dinner at the arlequin now, as I pushed for a restaurant with a sea view due to the coba hotel being llocated when we thought we d have sea view rooms. Im also debatin on hiring dj bob-has anyone heard of him? Hes not the resident dj but good reputation and less than bahias dj. So were booking jacuzzi bar offered till 10 then head to the club then- is the hacienda club at tulum thatll take time gettin from coba to tulum woot.gifim getting more excited x hope weathers blue skies april 15th?? xx

Hi Everyone -  great link and looks like a fab place for a wedding.  I am getting married in Coba on 19th May 2011 and cant wait now after reading all these brilliant reviews.

My wedding co-ordinator is Karla, but she hasnt mentioned the poolside bar/DJ/reception to me at all.  All i know so far is that the wedding is booked for the Gazebo.

Can you book the poolside bar at a cheaper rate that $24pp pr hr?  Seems a lot considering we will have nearly 30 people there who have already paid to be all-inclusive.  I love the picture of this though and think it would be a great novelty that everyone would remember.

Does Karla tell you about DJs or have you found out this info by searching forums online?  I feel like I know nothing now and its only 14 weeks til we fly out!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Kayley, You said you chose the Delux Symbolic ceremony, and I was wondering did it seem much different than a "legal" ceremony? I am getting married at the Coba in February 2012 and am leaning more towards a symbolic ceremony seeing as the rules they have in place are a bit silly for a legal ceremony. I am wanting to know if the symbolic service sounds somewhat like a "regualr" ceremony. Also, when did you pay for the wedding package itself? Is it all one bill you get when you check out? My wedding co-ordinator had been wonderful but there is a bit of a language barrier so its a bit difficult to get proper information. Any info you have is appreciated!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
