Do You Think Your Dress Will Make You Too Hot In The Sun?

Recommended Posts

I wore a short dress & it was still a little warm, I think it would have been even worse in a long dress. Just depends on what you want for your wedding. Also, if you are closer to the water for your reception you will have a nice breeze.

I feel the same way. I live in Houston where it feels like 125 degrees everyday in the summer. My dress is heavy and tight fitting and Im worried I will be too hot. However, its the dress of my dreams and I paid way too much for it, so Im sticking with it. If I get too hot in Mexico Ill just deal with it. I forgot who mentioned it, but I really like that hand held fan idea. :)

I thought my dress was going to be super hot and the day of our wedding was the hottest day there...no breeze and not a cloud in the sky. All I would suggest is that you get cups sewn into your dress...don't wear a bra or anything else. That made mine bearable....it really wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. You don't really notice quite honestly, your so caught up in everything else

We got married in Scottsdale/Paradise Valley Arizona. It was 105 the day of(yikes right?) and this was my dress...

Click the image to open in full size.

I won't lie, I was hot! But really only when we were standing outside for an hour taking family pictures(grr dont even get me started on the photographer who thought that was a good idea...) and I had to tell him I couldn't take anymore outside or I might pass out. And to be completely honest I think my Spanx was what was making me so hot.

But I wouldn't have worn anything different. The dress was one of my favorite things about the day.

It's worth it. Try on that dress, it is incredible.

Also, I know this is going to sound strange but if you find yourself getting really warm, standing in water really helps, so for you ladies having your reception by a pool this could be a cute picture and helpful lol.

I just bought my dress yesterday. I am getting married in cuba and I'm also concerned about the heat. The dress I got is heavy, but I love it so much that I can not think of having anything else. I figure it is my one and only big day that I will manage. But the fans and hanging out in the water sounds like a must, plus we are having our ceremony later in the day so I hope that helps

I think you should try the dress and see.I think we will all be hot.Have you thought about a parasol to keep the sun away and deffo go for a 5.00 ceremony if you can.No way should you be doing a 2.00-2.30 ceremony

The bigger tulle dresses are meant to be kinder in the heat as they dont stick to your legs.Looking at what youve picked i think you have found the perfect dress xxx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
