Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about how the Hyatt handled (or failed to) the whole wedding! I can't believe they messed up such an integral part of your wedding - the chuppah. Thank goodness for the rabbi!! It sounds like he really saved the day!

You looked beautiful, though, and when all is said & done, you're married! And in a gorgeous location! I'm sure your review will help lots of future Aruba brides so thank you for your honest review!

OMG, I would have totally lost it if I were you. I couldn't believe it when I read about the Chuppah. Congrats regardless! I'm sure that you had a great time with your friends and family, and like it was said before, the importance is that you are married. Maybe years from now you will laugh about it all!

Sorry to hear about your poor experience with the WC at the Hyatt. Thank goodness you had a great photographer and rabbi to take over the reigns. Everything (except the chuppa) look great. I'm sure your guests had no idea. Congrats on the wedding!!

wow first of all CONGRATS!!!! yay you're married to the love of your life!!! gorgeous pics and i LOVE the tango surprise!!

now....i really really really think that you or hubby should write a letter to the president and every single VP that Hyatt has. it doesn't matter that they are run independently, the company name is still respresented as a whole. i can't believe that such a reputable chain (you are paying for a brand and that brand comes with a certain expected level of service) would drop the ball on one of the most important days of your lives and have the nerve to blame it on "bad luck"! WTF!!!! i understand that things happen and people aren't always on their "a game" BUT as a provider of customer service you do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to make it up to your guest!!! they should have bent over backwards for you and offered much more.

sorry i'm in the service industry and this just got me all wound up!!!! we make things up to people all the time even when they don't have a legitimate claim. it pisses me off that they aren't doing more for you rant.gif censored.gif

Z-

Thanks for sharing your review and the pictures of your trip! Aruba brides are few and far in between and I know this will be very helpful to others.

It's a shame that things didn't go better but you can't tell in your pictures. The most important thing is that you're married to the man you love and you had your loved ones around you.

The rum with personalized labels is a wonderful idea. At first I was going to keep the regular label but love how yours turned out. We're all set with Ethan and will have them delivered to our hotel.

Carolina - You are absolutely right! I couldn't believe it either, trust me. We met with one of the managers over the next couple of days to negotiate the costs and they did reduce them. But kind of reluctantly. We didn't wanna drag it out since were were on our honeymoon. I was honesty expecting them to do more to make it up to us and yes, I was thinking of writing a letter to someone way high up at the Hyatt about this. We have a friend that works for a Hyatt in DC and she says that they have one of the most extensive customer service systems and are very closely inspected to make sure that all transactions are to the customers' satisfaction (she is in special events also). So yes, it was quite unbelievable. I was expecting them to offer a free stay or something at any other Hyatt or even that one. When my husband asked them to reduce the room charges, they basically told us no since there were no problems with the rooms. I was surprised by that as well. I guess that's just how they run things in that resort.

Sheree - thanks! Enjoy the rum, your guests will love it (we ordered extras and still ran out coz everyone wanted more). Plus Ethan gave us a huge bottle as a present with our custom label on it. So very nice of him. Less than a month left for you!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
